I see a lot of cues for sale that are only test hit.
Example -Monster cue made in 2003 test hit only
From a private collection locked in a safe for 20 years test hit only.

Marketing as flowery as you use when selling something. I remember how verbose you got about that Lucasi.

Bruce when I sell cues I wipe them down and refurbish the shaft. Then sand the tip a bit...WALA back to "just test hit"

Cuebuddy>>>if I could find the winky face I would have inserted one

I wonder how many sellers do a quick shaft cleaning and sealing, thoroughly sand or put on a new tip, and it's "Never chalked".

:devilish: ;) o_O:alien::poop:🤬 Lots of winky faces under the smiley icon. Just click on it. Maybe only gold members get winky faces?

Well, a certain moderator on a billiard website has done that and much more. My favorite move is when they steal the original shafts and put out replacements from another builder.

I imagine many do that. I was just funnen around, lord knows the only cues I sell are my mini cues and I am afraid to hit a ball with them. I don't see any Icons to click on but in two more years I will have my last of four kids through college and the the Gold memberships are on me! For everyone ;) Edit: I tried an old school winky face and it worked from my keyboard.

For me the edit box looks like this...

Another thing I see often is a description of a certain flaw in a cue (roll, warped etc.), immediately followed by "does not affect play".

No way to keep any better cue without test hit, I dont think its possible as long as you really like cues and pool in general.

All of my cues have been dynamometer tested and have successfully completed the first Robert Byrne video on fundamentals.
I've never been able to get one up to a ton so I don't say it, and I don't think a "monster player" is necessarily a good thing.

A Classic......Cue is un-played BUT hits a ton......Huh..lol

I hit balls with every cue I've ever made and cannot imagine any custom maker who would not. I want to ensure the cue plays the way I want as well as has no internal problems (noises or issues). I'm doubt production cues receive this attention.

Besides the fact that you can clean to cue to look like unchalked, this is another thing that makes the demand for "never hit a ball" laughable.

One other thing is that if you plan to play with the cue, it's much better to shoot with it for a while before buying. There used to be a billiard store (in Oregon? Billiards and Bagels?) where they encouraged shoppers to play with any cue they were interested in.
