hahaha............... that is my minimum time..............
usually it is 3 months............
with out the rest periods in between procedures.... you get a piece of crap
and yes.... I can build you one on a week......... but you will hate it

Bill Stroud once said it should take no longer than 8 weeks to build a standard 4 point cue.

Obv every cuemaker has their schedule and expected wait times, etc., and no one knows them better than they do, right? so what matters here is what he promised the op for a completion time. The fact that many cuemakers miss their promised completion dates doesn't excuse it, imo.

If he ordered a cue whatever kind it was and was told it would be done in 2 weeks and now at 2 months it's not done, do you guys think the op is wrong to ask for advice on what to do? I don't.

And what does SW's 13 year wait time have to do with? :confused: I'm thinking nothing.

There you go...popularity and demand making for a longer wait time. I'd rather have my car stolen than my Josey cue. My car easily replaced...but at age 76, night not have the time left to replace my cue.

So, there a few local to me cue makers I'd go to...I know of 3 with good word of mouth reputations. All relatively new, so probably not long waiting times.

Jerry Rauenzahn told me that the veneers should be set, glued and sit untouched for 10-12 weeks.
Bob Owen doesn’t rush his work, nor do any other of the great cue-makers that are still active. With
the four cues they made for me, the estimated completion timeframe was 15-16 months from design
to finish. On the last two cues, Bob and Jerry had to accelerate finish because of CA’s new ivory ban.
They beat the deadline by 4 weeks when both my cues were scheduled to be completed 3 months after.
Cues with inlays, hand mitre veneers, rings, etc. just require more time that Bill would have agreed with.
 
I got a custom Schmelke cue and it took 5 weeks.
But it had no inlays or points.
Just rings at all positions.
 
The BBB is like the Mafia to small business, join or be black - listed. Recall getting a call one day from BBB, guy said your are not member. I said your right. He replied with reason that I should affailate. I told him you do not even know what I do, who my client are, and last they call me because of my work, not BBB Membership. He said he would put on their list I was not Affailated if anyone inquired, I said could careless. Then told he some not nice words to never bother me again.

Get a mezz exceed and call it a day. No wonder southwest has such a mystic.to them you brainwash yourself that it's ok to wait 15 yrs for a stick of wood. Lol. It would be ok if you could on the list in 2005 aND have,your cue 15 years later at a 2005 price

I heard something 'bout things in general moving a little slower than usual.
 
simple, his post said they gave a delivery date and failed to deliver. he doesnt want it now and is entitled to cancel the order. no matter what the reason is that they have not delivered.

this has nothing to do with some other maker that has you waiting years. justifying him having to wait.

Well maybe they had a good reason such as running out of components or stock, or employees being sick, or countless other issues ruining peoples livelihoods at the moment, as last I heard a virus was going around which is causing a huge amount of distress to businesses who can't cope with the types of unforeseen events this virus is causing.. The last thing businesses need is some impatient moron moaning about his pool cue being late and throwing his teddy bear in the corner and saying he dosen't want it anymore :-((. Even if there wasn't a virus I am sure there are more important things for the OP to worry about. Sounds like a bit of a sado to me to feel it necessary to post it on a forum. The last thing anyone should be moaning about in these times are businesses who are struggling to deliver on time or deliver at all!!! Anyone backing this guy should be ashamed of himself because these are DESPERATE times and moaning about drivel is really not acceptable. . And I can guarantee that the OP isn't a businesses owner nor is Kickin Chicken.

Josey gave me a 2 year time frame at order date. They were at 22 months delivery, so two months early.

Do the above and this thread becomes moot. Especially, if it's true that you no longer want the cue. The only problem you then my run into is if the refund is refused. That, would warrant a thread.
 
Wow. Obvious people have no idea what it takes to build a cue. The only way you should be getting that cue in 2 weeks would be if it was already made. If you rush the turning process, the cue / shaft WILL warp.
People think making a cue just takes chucking some wood in the lathe and it is done.

There are many known cuemakers who have stockpiles of shafts ready to finish. If this was as simple as sticking a pin in a butt and clearcoating it with a finished shaft, 2 weeks is plenty of time

I think the bigger consideration should be whether the cuemakers knows what it takes to make the cue and where he's at in the process.

If he quotes that it'll be done in two weeks then that's how long it should be
