I got a snakewood cue. The butt is one piece, maple cored right thru. I know, I know snakewood=problems. I don`t believe the issue is the snakewood.
The cue hits and plays fine no rattle, no odd sounds whatsoever, no visible cracks whatsoever.
There is no weight bolt in the cue.
My issue: When I tap the cue butt on the ground gently holding the buttsleeve there is a rattle.
When I tap the cue butt on the ground holding the pin there is no rattle.
What are the chances of the pin being loose and is vibrating and hasn`t being properly installed.
A joint in a one piece butt?
My helper kid made himself a sneaky a while back, and he recently found the exact same problem. The pin buzzes, but its not loose. Once its together, its fine though. I'm not sure if he's gonna pull the pin, or just not worry about it. I personally wouldn't worry about it.

Next time tell the maker not to use rattle snake wood. Sorry I couldn't resist.

Did he use a thin epoxy on the pin?
