Cue reach opinions

they have been around for year's. first saw one in the early 80's. a lot of leagues or tournaments don;t allow them.
I have one and like it. I don't like using bridges. I keep it clipped on my case and a lot of people ask to use it, so they must like it too. The only thing is, you seem to shoot a little harder with it on your stick, so you have to be careful about that when stretched out on the table.
Does it hold on good to your cue? It does not leaves any scratch right?
Get the Tony Ryan extension!
The Tony Ryan extension doesn't scratch the cue. It has foam in the inside to protect from scratching. The extension with the mesh inside did scratch my cue.

I bought one like (or similar) to the one in the link.
You slide the cue tip first all the way through back of the thing. If you have a wrap (mine was linen) then it scuffs up the wrap as you pull it tight (and then remove it). I used it two times and threw it away because it was tearing up my wrap.
I bought a Hagar plastic extension with the mesh inside and haven't had any problems with it scratching my butts (like someone else above did). They work great in my opinion but I heard recently that they don't make them any more.
Don't have any experience with the Tony Ryan extensions but have heard good feedback on them.

I have the Longoni and it's great but care must be used or it will scratch your butt. Used properly it's fine.

Count me as another vote for the Tony Ryan. On the same site (AZB Marketplace), you can also purchase the pleather holster that straps onto the outside of your case with velcro straps, and actually fits snugly against your cue case's side without snagging onto everything you might brush by.

Additionally, the Tony Ryan will fit INSIDE certain larger cue cases (e.g. a 4x8) in one of the slots for a cue butt. But again, you have to have a larger capacity cue case to take advantage of that capability. The external holster is more appropriate for most folks.

My cue does not have wrap , but I do not like the idea of the extension sliding through the whole like you mention . My friend has a Tony Ryan it's pretty good but kinda heavy . Will look around for other options

I also have a wrapless cue and have been using a Cue Reach since 98 or so. It has a rolled edge on both ends and as long as your cue has a quality finish it will not scratch it. I used it for 3 years on a $2,000 cue with a wrap and never had one issue with it scratching the finish or damaging the wrap. John Barton is currently building me a new case where my cue reach will be housed in the interior of the case, no strapping it to the outside anymore.....
I had one of these and I gave it away after I bought the Tony Ryan extension. Much better product.
The Longoni is good, not heavy but kind of expensive. I've got one and like it because it is very functional and lightweight.
The hard plastic sleeve is OK. I think it is a little too hard for my taste, you know sliding up and down on your cue but each to his own.
I use the mini bungee cords to hold it onto my case and they work perfect for me.

I currently have a Hager and it works just fine, but I'm not sure they are available anymore. One thing about the slip on plastic extensions such as the Hager - because the cue goes farther in before cinching tight, less of the length of the extensions is "useable". So you need a longer one to get the same effective reach as with the Longoni or Ryan. Keep this in mind if length is going to be an issue for the way you plan to store it.

No problem. I have the 18" and it works well for me. There are quite a few guys around here that will be happy to hear they may be able to order extensions from Hager. The site had been down for a while.
