Have you ever got a request for a custom cue and the potential customer wants you to do everything that you don't normally do. ???? Do you try to do the job even though it is not the cue you usually build or do you pass on it???

Yes, sometimes you must decline a build the way I see it.

It's ok to bend a little to serve a customer but they should want you to build them a cue because they like the attributes that your product brings to the table concerning the engineering. Cosmetics is a different story.

No.
If you can't recognize the cue as yours, you should refuse it.
 
I usually regret doing the job if I go too far outside of what I normally do.

It seems to come back and hunt you..because usually the changes are things you gave up doing a long time ago or never did and for good reason. I always ask why?

I look at it this way, if its to odd ball from your normal cue, someone is going to judge all your cues based on that odd build. So if its to out of your comfort zone...Pass.

I can understand your not wanting to go public, but, without a bit more
specific info, you can't get a meaningful response - IMHO.

BTW - it sounds to me like you have already made up your mind.
