Cue Shipping And Handling Charges

ya know, when its posted what shipping is on Ebay and you think the charge is a little high then reflect the increase in your bid. I think most people take shipping into consideration when bidding anyway. How much do I want to pay including shipping. it really doesnt matter whats posted as long as its posted IMO.

This statement kinda shows my point to... free shipping people will bid a little higher...

it all depends what kind of cue you're shipping. i don't think you would charge $10 if you were sending a $5,000+ cue. the insurance alone will take deep pockets. not to mention cues like this should be overnighted which can bring the total cost of shipping to around $75 and up.

I agree...I have done this for even a $1200 cue...it's worth it to me for the peace of mind...overnight and full insurance value. The less time it spends in transit, lessens the likelihood of damage or loss.

i've recently offered 'free' shipping. I consider it a part of the transaction costs... and it gives me the freedom to decide what will be the best way to ship. I try to ship it the fastest way, and I don't like shipping near the weekend, for fear the cue will sit around on Sat or Sun who knows where. The insurance, whether FedEx or USPS, is the cost killer... anyway, for about $25 I can either send FedEx 2nd Day or USPS Express Mail (next day), either way insured and tracked online. It's to my advantage if the cue gets to the buyer sooner, so that I can know as soon as possible if the buyer is satisfied... cheers

Hal, I hope you do understand by including free shipping you are including that cost into the final value of the product. You are therfore including shipping cost into the amount that ebay is charging a final value feed on. Ebay Luvs You!!! As they get richer! Yeah it sounds good, but you are actually costing both yourself and the buyer the extra change that ebay is collecting.:cool: :eek:
 
For expensive cues that you want to insure, the least expensive way is Priority Mail and Registered. It is a lot less than insuring it and yet it is insured. Registered mail charges are based on $1000 increments while insured charges are calculated by $100 increments.

the only major problem with sending a high end cue this way is that they can't tell you how long it will take to get there. i sent three cues to my partner and it took 9 days.:eek: i was lucky there was no excessive cold, heat or humidity during transit. the cost was right though. $27 insured for $10,000.

Yeah, they get you with the seller fees... the final value fee is retarded. They're charging me several times for the same thing. My total listing fees were only $1.50, then $24.41 for a $795 final price. Rediculous!
 
When

I got my Break/Jump cue from Ebay, it was shipped in triangular box within a plastic sleeve surrounded by bubble wrap. The seller required $15 for shipping, and the postage on the box said $9.63. The bubble wrap may have been a $1 or 2, but $12 tops. $100 insurance. It arrived in 4 days from the east coast to middle America.

He Charged Me 25.00 For Ups Ground Shipping, Which Cost Him About 6.50(i Weighed The Box, When It Got Here And Calculated Cost Through The Ups Site) The Best Part Is I Had Bought Three Auctions From Him That Were All For The 25 Cases, And He Refused To Even Combine The Shipping Fees. It Took Me 25 Minutes To Finally Find The Shipping Fees Hidden In The Auction. I Now Own The Worlds Most Expensive Dvd Cases Ever. Lol

I got guys that charge me $40 for shipping and when the item arrives, I found that the postage for the package was only $20.00.

Our Canada Post shipping service is not the greatest here in Canada. When I ship to the US, I normally go with Express Post (3-5 business days) (cost varies from $25.00 plus depending on weight etc) and Expedited USA (6-12 business days) ($15 - $25 plus depending on weight etc).

About 90% of the items arrive within the time frame and the rest of the 10% depends on where you are in the US. CA is alway a problem for me as it almost never get there on time.

Anyone know of a cheaper option in Canada? UPS, Fedex, Purolator are out of the questions and I do not use them unless requested. Too expensive and lot of hassel.

FROM MY EXPERIENCE, THE POSTAL SERVICE HAS BEEN THE MOST AFFORDABLE, AND MOST RELIABLE FOR SHIPPING TO CANADA, AND OTHER COUNTRIES.
 
I just shipped a cue overseas (Taiwan) via USPS Global Express/EMS. The cue was received in 3 days of shipping, in good order, and the cost was roughly 39.00 with insurance. Tracking is included with this service. Not too shabby.

Works good if cue is packed well. Received one of those triangle boxes with a cue from overseas with minimum packing - the mailman made me open it up right when he delivered it since the box was so badly damaged -it was scary. And remember those go through customs so you aren't in complete control of the packaging.

That is how they get around paying so much in final value fees, they make the product real cheap and you end up paying for it in the shipping charges. Lots and lots do it on ebay, (ie, paid .99 for a pool dvd and paid $12 for the shipping) bottom line ebay only gets final value fees for .99 cents.........so is it a scam or is it smart? Ebay has enough money.....?
