Cue Stolen at Derby City Classic

I'm sorry for asking this. How does this keep happening. Do you guys turn your back on it put it down go to the bathroom and leaving it.what are you guys doing?

I had some very valuable antique collectables I had taken to show a few friends at the poolroom.
I had to go to the bathroom, so I asked someone who I considered a good friend, and a pretty sharp guy to keep an eye on them, while I went to relieve myself.
I go in and am gone about 5 minutes , come out of the stall and go to wash my hands and here comes the guy I left my stuff with, out of one of the other stalls! {about $5,000.00 worth of collectables!}
I said, "who did you leave my stuff with" , he says , "oh I had to take a crap , it's still sitting out there!"
Needless to say , we are no longer "friends" and I no longer think he has the good sense to not drown in a rainstorm, because he can't quit looking up.
Luckily, none of the local creeps, had any idea of what the stuff was worth , or I'm sure it would have been gone.
A quick look and I counted 3 stone cold thieves within 30 feet of the stuff.
One was on the other side of the chairs it was laying on!
Man, do I have no clue about people.

MMmmmmmann.... this is the super-worst thing I can imagine happening. Especially at DCC, it's like going to the Vatican and having your bible stolen. Feel really bad for Bobby and hope the scumbag that stole the cue sits on a penis shredder.

Are you certain on the maker? Lenny I know you know your stuff but by memory it looks IDENTICAL to a Bob Frey " Flame Cue " that was for sale on AZ a little while back? But yes I agree this really sucks and I truly hope the thief is found and gets everything and then some of what they have coming to them. FWIW, I will Def keep an eye out in my neck of the woods. Just for information purposes, ball parked what is a cue like this worth?

my eyes aren't too good but it looks like it's signed just above the butt cap.

hope this pretty cue turns up real soon.

best,

There are predators waiting for an opportunity to grab an expensive cue. Unfortunately it happens quite often. This is why most pool players walk around with their cue strapped to their body and only set it down when they are preparing to play or eat dinner, and then the cue sits right next to them.

TRUST NO ONE. I know that sounds harsh, but I've seen it happen too often, once almost to me... you ask some one you've known for some time to watch your cue, they say 'yeah, yeah, I got you, man'... you hit the head, come back and they're on the other side of the room talking to somebody... your cue or case is unattended. In a busy tournament, my case never leaves me. And if you think no one's watching you when you put your cue case in your car, think again... heard too many stories of car break-ins after the guy went into a restaurant, etc.

And the hotel room is a non-starter... even with 'do not disturb', can't truss it.

Any luck finding the stolen cue? You guys should bump this thread and keep it as far up as possible, until someone browsing the forum notices the same cue in their local pool room. Hope it eventually gets found, and returned to the owner of it. If there are many cameras, then maybe they can look at them, if the exact time and place is known about when the cue was stolen.
