I'm a sucker for rosewoods. Can't really pin one down as a favorite. It all comes down to the particular piece. I'm doing a simple cue now of Patagonian rosewood and i'm really liking the stuff.

So far the best playing cues I have used had Cocobolo and Rosewood fronts, so I would have to go with that. I also love the look of Purple Heart wood for points and inlays, especially into Birdseye Maple, which happens to be another of my favorite woods and also a strong player.

My favorite woods are Cocobolo and Instrument Grade Kurly Birdseye Maple. I just finished a cue using both woods together.

Ebony and Birdseye are among my favorites. For playability full spliced Birdseye and Bocote are my favorites. For Inlays snakewood is very hard to beat. I do feel my best playing cues all had birdseye maple in the forearm. But my best looking and most expensive cues had ebony forearms.
