I used to have one of those jars displayed on my desk in the pro shop.....probably saved me a few headaches....I kept it full of pennies for people to keep score with during the tournaments.

I sure can't, or won't defend many cuemakers issues. This thread is about all the troublesome customers that said cuemakers don't come on here and vent about. Trust me there are some.;)

There is a very simple solution, buy your own lathes, and make your own cues...

Another simple solution: Nobody pay a cue maker more than 10% down upon ordering and the remaining 90% when the cue is finished. Reduce the balance by 10% each month the cue is overdue from the agreed upon delivery time.

Who have you done that with

Nobody. I deal with people who deliver on time and communicate.

I would expect a cue maker to build some "fudge" time into his build estimate and advise the customer immediately if any delays were anticipated once the build started.

I've never made a purchase of anything expensive where the price wasn't adjusted or some freebie something thrown in if they didn't deliver on time. That goes from services to products. Why should pool cues be any different?
