Whats a good price on a 2x4 Black Lizard Thomas case? I was told to make an offer for one. $120 high or low?

If you mean a case by Ron Thomas, $120 is way too low if it is in good condition.

I do believe there is a much cheaper line of "Thomas" cases (vinyl), too, that I think is not made by Ron Thomas.

Too many variables to answer that question.
The condition of the case will have quite a bit
to do with the price. Also, let's call it like it is.
The greed or lack thereof, of the person selling
the case will also have somewhat of a determining
factor on the price. My suggestion would be to do
a search here on AZ for "Thomas cases" and see
for yourself what the average case(s) has sold for
in the past. Or...call Ron himself and have him make
you a brand new one. New is good, real good. Ron is
also an extremely nice gentleman to deal with. I've
enjoyed the times I've got to chat with him about not
only cues/cases/billiard industry issues, but just about
life in general. A very well and soft spoken individual
with a whole lot of knowledge about life. Great guy.
So in my opinion, you might want to give him a call
and see about a new one for yourself. But to answer
your question, $120 is way too low for one of his cases
if it is in good condition. Good luck with your search...

Ron Thomas cases.

You will probably be looking at around $275 on up, depending on the "Series" Ron has 2 or 3 lines, see his web site.If it is a regular leather like a lizard print figure $275 or better. His cases are very nicely done. The "fancier" ones will be $300 on up.Also his cases are usually signed inside the lid.I hope this helps.I have 3 of his cases and I really like them.If you want me to help you on this, just PM me.I will do what I can.Have a great weekend and good luck.

BTW,my cases are all 1X2,sorry.

If in good condition here are some values
old style with snap on the side 200.00-250.00
new style with lock in front or the button type lock on the inside of the top. 300 - 400 also depends on the leather or hide. Some of his newer
cases he used elephant, rihno, python, giraffe that run about 1,000 - 2,000.

The inside lid

When you take the lid off of a Ron Thomas Case he usually signs "Ron Thomas" on the inside on the felt. Ask the seller if it is there and to see a photo. I am not sure if this is done on all his cases but the ones I had have it.

Hope this helps

I know for a fact, that a new 1x2 from Ron, with a Mocha Alligator print is $375,lol.

Ron Thomas is one of the finest guys in the biz. A genuine hard working craftsman. If you like the case don't worry about the price. It is likely worth more than is being asked, especially if you are buying directly from Ron.

Ron Thomas Case

If you are sure it is in fact an actual genuine Ron Thomas leather 2x4 case then $120.00 is a ridiculously low price and if its in good condition I would jump all over it. I own a dozen of Ron's cases in both 1x2 and 2x4 configurations and I can attest that the information Poolrod posted in response to your question stating that Ron gets $375.00 for a 1x2 leather print case with no pocket, handle or shoulder strap is 100% accurate.

It is not very common to even see any of his 2x4 cases for sale on the aftermarket and I would venture to guess if you did find one it would sell for anywhere from $300.00 on up depending on its condition and what material it was made with.

Ron makes cases that can sell for upwards of $1500.00 or more if they are fashioned from an exotic material like Zebra or Elephant Ear. I saw one he had displayed at this years Super Billiards Expo back in March that was a 1x2 made from Giraffe and was absolutely gorgeous, if memory serves me correctly I believe it was $1900.00 but don't hold me to it because I could be mistaken, I looked at so many items its all a blur at this point, LoL!

Like Wedge had posted, if you remove the cap he will either have his name signed inside it or on some of his older cases his name was stamped inside the cap.

I personally bought one a few months back that was a black lizard print with a 10" pouch and side carry handle in like new condition and I paid over double the price you mentioned and feel like I got a fantastic deal so if you can verify it is a genuine Ron Thomas case and its in nice condition I think you can't go wrong paying anything under $300.00.

Hope this helped and if you don't want it have him send me some pics and I will buy it, LoL!

That Giraffe was the nicest case Ron ever made IMHO

I'll take a "look under the hood" for any signitures.. if so I'll pick it up, and post some pics!

Not trying to be a wet blanket but, technically, since nothing is for sale/trade/ or wanted to buy, I believe this type of post would be better suited for the main forum.

By doing so you would help the guys who are dealing here to not have their threads pushed further down.
