Hi, Do anyone know if it is possible to remove a set of Artemis cushions once they have been glued on. I think I have a problem with the sub rail bevel and would like to remove the cushions, fix the bevel and then reinstall the same cushions. Can this be done? Thanks Dennis S.

Yes, I do it all the time...but not after I use the glue I use to install them;)

My question would be if you don't know whether or not you can strip the rubber off the rails, how do you know how to fix the bevel?

I cant fix the bevel. But I was wondering if it was possible to remove the cushions to have someone else do the bevel and reinstall the cushions and facings.I should have Josh do the rails like I wanted to do in the first place but could not afford the cost. But know I am not happy with the way A.E. Schmidt did the cushions or facings and the cushions seem to be not rebounding as it did before. Iam thinking that there must be difference in the cushion from now to back in the 60 as this table was made. so I am thinking the the bevel is wrong. Thinking of taking the Artemis cushions off and maybe have diamonds put on, after I get someone to do the bevel right. But there is no mackanic in the St. Louis area that can do this. I would have to send them to someone and as far as I know Josh is the closest to me.

Now thick are the sub-rails, and what kind of Artemis cushions were installed?

The AE Schmidt's I've seen are K55, until recently, maybe 2 years ago, they started putting on K66. The one's at DnB play fast even with generic cushions.

PM me. If I remember right, it's been a while since we spoke. PM me exactly what you need done and if you're able to ship me the rails for the work to be done.

cushions:

This is not a Schmidt table I just had the rail work done by them. The table is a 1960 model National table and the rails had K-66 cushions on itand played pretty well. I thought buy putting Artemis cushions on it and Diamond facings that the table would play better, but it does not play as good, at best I can only get 4 rails from foot to head. So I am thinking that the older K-66 cushion have alittle different angle at the subrail compared to the newer K-66 cushions. The nose height seems to be very close to the 1'" 7/16 like it should be. so I figure it must be the bevel angle. Thanks

In replacling a similar cushion profile and the table playing worse I would initially suspect a problem with the workmanship rather then the cushions. Some pics of the rails without the rail cloth could help.
