Custom Pool Room

Excellent attention to detail on such a large project. This is gonna be really cool. Nothing like doing something really right yourself.

I too have to say became addicted to this thread. Stumbled upon it a few days back, and read it through from the beginning. I wish I had the skill set you do my friend! I want to put an addition on to my house; but no way could I ever do this. I do have some very talented friends however that are in the business. Unfortunately, my budget will be MUCH higher.....

Thats a great idea, except the last part of me hitting some balls, I wouldn't want to embarrass myself. But I really like the slide show idea. I definitely have enough pics to do it.

Judging by your attention to detail and ability to lay off when the weather isn't cooperating I will throw this out there........with some dedication, desire, and attention to sound fundamentals, I'm guessing you could play this game at a high level if you want to bad enough. I'm sure you could get to the point where most locals don't want to tangle with you anyway.
The room is coming along very very nicely:thumbup:

I agree with DeadNutz on this, plus you can learn a lot about your game by videotaping yourself hitting some balls. Short of hiring a Professional Instructor it is the fastest way to find and correct any flaws in your game.

Thread of the year!

I am another addict to this thread. Great stuff!

The idea of putting at least an overhead and maybe a side angle camera mount and/or wiring (if needed) would certainly be easier to add now, and the benefit to your game down the road would be immense.
I was amazed at the difference of what I thought I looked like playing, and what I actually looked like playing. (Maybe there are people in your area who might compensate you in some way to record themselves for examination?)

This thread is an excellent source of inspiration.
After you work on your room, I assume you earn a living, you mentioned family, and then you keep a bunch of strangers entertained with stories and pictures. Appreciated.
I have seen references to "thread of the year" before, I don't know if it is an inside joke. If there is, this one has to be nominated.

It is actually getting too close to the end, I hope someone else starts a new room we can follow!

lol!
The irony in all this is, I own several custom cues, I love playing pool, and I'm building a pool room, but yet I can't shoot worth a darn!

:D:D

Yeah it may sound funny but I really am on a budget. So far I've spent around $6500. I'm shooting to complete everything under $8000 not including the TV's or appliances. Making everything from scratch really helps keep cost down.

What would you charge in labor costs to come down to New Orleans to do this same project? :D:D:D

Outstanding room!! How's you finger doing? You tore the tip up pretty good:eek: Hope it healed properly. Do you do ridge vents or gable vents to help in getting rid of excess attic heat in your area? I didn't notice any, just curious.

Now there's an enterprising idea... could help offset the cost of the build.

Yes I did add ridge vents on both sides of the building. thanks
Oh btw, finger is doing good, healed up nice, crooked, but nice.

I just painted the Room this weekend. The color came out fantastic. I chose Black Evergreen. It's a dark color and it really darkens the room a LOT! It's exactly what I was going for. The paint hasn't really dried yet so I'll wait to take pictures as to avoid the overlap lines from showing up. Here are pics of the Track lighting I put together. In all I spent $7 for this set up which new would have ran me over $60. A $1 for each light (new) and $4 for the track bar.

Love the stainless look of the track light... is it going to be used for illuminating the pool table or used for accent lighting somewhere else?

It will be for lighting the top open shelf of the bar area. With the room being so dark it will help lighten up the bar. I still can't believe how dark it feels in there.

Complteted painting

I was finally able to take pictures of the Room after paint. Please excuse the quality of the pics. The room is so dark it’s hard to get good light to take pictures. So the phrase ”pictures don’t do it justice” really applies here. The color (Black Evergreen) came out great! And the dark ambiance I was looking for really came through. My wife now realizes why I wired for so many lights. After I finished painting I couldn't believe how dark the room was. Before I could work in a corner with plenty of light (with just the shop light alone) and now I can't hardly see. It's the perfect atmosphere for shooting pool. Enjoy.

Bar Area

Here are pics of the bar area. I installed the track lighting with 25w flood light bulbs. These will be for illuminating the top bar portion where the TV will be located. I can always adjust the direction and angle.

Stain Glass

I temporary put up the Stained Glass I made to see how it looks. I really like it. I just need to swap the bulb in the hall fixture out to a lower wattage. When I install it permanently it will be centered in the wall incased by stained ¼ round oak molding.

Sconces

When I bought the sconces I knew I was going to have a problem with how much they would light up. I didn’t want to use a dimmer because I do need the brightness. I just want it directed down and up, not out. So I experimented with a food can. It worked out great! It contains the light but yet illuminates just enough for that specific spot. And since I am going to have 9 in the room it tones it down perfect.

As you can see from the picture its a big difference. Believe me the camera cuts out alot of the light on the sconce from the left. Its a lot more brighter than it looks!

Again this picture shows how blinding the light is.
And NO, the can is not permanent. I just needed to get an idea of how it would look. I found some small aluminum canisters I need to order off the internet.
