Custom Pool Room

Does Billiards Digest still do a "best home room" feature? This may be room of the decade especially due to the fact it was built form the ground up by the owner.

Yes they do, I made this suggestion earlier and now that we can see the finished product I think someone should be sending them a link to this forum.

dsoriano, with your permission I would gladly send BD something on your behalf, you have done fantastic work here and allowing all of us to share the journey with you was great.

what a beautiful pool room:eek: I wish I had a room like this:(
I just wish I had the ability to build something like that. Again Great job sir. I kinda hate to see you finish it for then we I be lost and looking for something else to keep me on here

Perhaps Daniel could regale us with tales of the 1st official pool tournament/action night that he allows in that magnificent room........

Thanks for the idea. I have considered it but I'm not quite done with the room. I still need the TV area seating, the TV, some corner tables, the atble side skirts, quarter round trim to cover the carpet edge and some few other details. BUT, I havent really decided if thats an option for me. I'm a pretty low key kind of guy and I didn't expect this thread to really get the attention it did. It would be nice and I'm leaning more towards the idea but haven't made up mt mind.

Well I've been playing a bit and realized what the room needs. I deffinatley need corner tables for our drinks. I also realized people will lean cues anywhere, so I decided to make some cue holders. I had some scrap 1x4 oak and drilled 3/4" holes then ran it on the table saw half way thru the holes and then rounded the corners with the jig-saw. I then rounded the edges with the router and stained it. I piloted holes undrneath and screwed it into the chair railing. They worked great.

Ironic, but, I was messing with the camera the other day and I found it had a whole bunch of settings. I came across several low light and night settings. I got to thinking how this feature would have really came in handy with all of the other hundred or so pics I took in the dark. Well better late than ever. So! here is a really cool pic I took of the room the other night in really good quality. I also snapped one of the Bar.

Notice I haven't installed the side skirts yet. I plan on finishing them up this weekend. May take a little longer since I will be applying several polyurethane coats. Also this picture was taken before I leveled the lights.

Yesterday evening i got home and decided to finish sanding the rest of the table pieces. I stained them and set them out to dry. Today I will give them the first coat of polyurethane. Im looking forward to installing these. Im hoping to have three coats done by Friday.

He pretty much told me the same thing, about being Low Key, after I put together the Slide Show of all the Photos he had posted to the thread, he said he wasn't much of a YouTube or Facebook kind of person, and I thought that was totally understandable.

I think all of the attention he has already received because of this thread has become a little overwhelming for him.

I keep updating my own personal slideshow of the photos as he posts new ones, and if he ever changes his mind about wanting to post some kind of slideshow, I will have it ready.

Daniel - I can make the Slideshow 'Private' on YouTube and only available to AZBers with a Passcode they would have to get thru a PM that would change frequently! Just something to think about.

He must have gotten bored! He just hasn't had enough to do on this project!

lol, that is partly true, now that things are slowing down I'm looking for little things to keep me busy.

Here are pics of the side skirt pieces after the second poly coat. One more and they should ready to install.

Well done Sir! The cue holders were a very nice, intelligent touch. You are a model for society in general. I am so happy for you and incredibly jealous at the same time...

You Sir are one great craftsman.

Just curious, have you estimated the amount of hours you have in this project?

Best thread ever. Most of all thanks for the inspiration. Also I'm mad at you because you just made my house hunting much more difficult. A pool room was always on the list but now I don't want ANY pool room. I'm looking for a house with YOUR pool room. Or at least enough space to turn something ok in MY pool room.

I also realized I think BLACK BALLED is very funny.

Are there any more updates or is this it?

Here's a few more.

Since I've been spending time and having friends over I'm realizing what the room needs. I was going to build some small round cocktail tables for the corners but my wife convinced me to cut corners int the tops and install them over the chair rail. I thik they came out pretty good. We really needed the shelf space for drinks.
