Custom Pool Room

Awesome thread, Awesome room. 1 question. I didn't see anywhere in the posts about how you tapped into city sewer/water supply.

Just doing that here would've cost a couple grand. How did you do it and keep it on the cheap.

thanks,

thanks,

If I remember right, that question has been asked and answered (a couple times). I think it's back toward the beginning...and then back a few pages he answered that again. (It was a good question though! ;) )

Thread definitely is more positive and has more information than most threads for the do-it-yourself person. Amazing thread. Some talented person should put all the pictures into a video on YouTube when its done. That would be nice to see.

That room is some kind of a monument.....to man caves.

I love going through this thread occasionally. really wonderful stuff.

You get three "aye's" because I think you're the "Custom Pool Room's" BIGGEST FAN!!! (No pun intended! :p )

Jason

I think I like you're reasoning much better! You are correct! I'm this threads' biggest groupie! If I could show it my man boobs, I would!

With the lack of updates I had nothing else to do but read over this thread from the beginning. Dsoriano you stayed true to your plans. Your bar looks just like your dwg on page 4 and your trim work matches exactly the dwg on page 2. You have a gift to build what you envision. What surprises me is you haven’t swayed or changed from your original plans one bit. Is there anything you might have considered changing?:o

Short answer; I own a shovel.

longer answer, when I built the house I ran a water line to the back shed and it happen to cross two feet from the main (electrical) panel box. When I dug the trench for the electrical I ran the water lines and cable feeds. The sewer city tap is located a few feet from the pool rooms bath. It doesn't cost anything to dig and tap into it:D unless you pay a contractor big bucks.

Wow, good question. I constantly go over the plans to fine tune any details I might have over looked but like I said in a previous post, I started designing this room about seven years ago as a dream. So to a point it's been a blessing I didn't build it sooner. That time permitted me to consider all aspects of the design and make changes then and not now. I have different layout versions I drew up. I'll see if I can find them and post them up. But to date I'm confident what I designed is what I want the final product to look like to the very last detail.

Absolutely beautiful wood work. I want to do something similar trim wise, but don't have the tools. Florida doesn't provide for a basement, so no place to keep the tools. Oh well.

1.5" Trim

Well after spending a weeks vacation with the family, it was good to be back home. I was able to spend a couple hours working on the Room when we got back. I started routering (chamfering) the 1-1/2" stock for the trim on the Bar and build-outs. For the Bar fur-down I decided to drop it down a bit so it wouldn't have such a flat look from underneath. I routered 3 sides on this trim only. Looking at the pictures it shows an 1/8" lip.

I continued this trim detail around the bar wall unit and all of the build-outs to tie the room all together and have a sense of consistency. I didn't have much time but I was glad to finish this portion of trim. The third pic down is of the build-out it's the only build-out with crown molding. This weekend I'll complete all build-outs.

Whats next to build?

Well, my goal is to completely finish ALL of the molding trim in the room this weekend. The
1.Crown molding for the build-outs
2.the wainscoting Shoe-mold on all recess panels
3.hanging the interior doors
4.triming the windows
5.triming the doors
6.completing the chair rail,-very little left.

I'm very close and hope to have everything lightly sanded and ready for staining soon. Last night I had the family help me move most of my tools out to the storage room and organize the room a little, this was time consuming! I also started breaking down the pool table bases. I'll soon start to strip and sand these.

AZ Should perhaps start a forum called HALL OF FAME instead of all the Sticky Threads. And THIS thread should be the first one elected. Always enjoy the updates here.

Edit..Just saw we have a Hall of Fame for remembering those that have passed. Maybe change that to the PLATINUM THREADS or something similar.
