What is the cut-off date for U.S Open players to get a refund of their $1000 entry fee if less than a certain amount don't sign or any other reason? I would hope they wouldn't be locked in a tournament that promised 128 payers and only gets 65 paying players, less points, and a smaller purse. Johnnyt

Though I read somewhere they already had 11x players in?

Show me where the tournament PROMISED 128 players, or did you mean to say that the limit was 128 players?

Johnny, you might have read incorrectly
I have NEVER seen a tourney "playbill" where it PROMISES a certain number of entries; only a limit on how many entries.

I have also seen a PROMISE of money added, but then again if ONLY a certain number of entries is realized.

Heck, the powers that be gotta make some money SOMEHOW.

Try again, sir.

Give it up already. Who ever signs up for the us open 9ball should know what there getting involved in by now. Take a pill already and chill out and stop trying to throw gas on the fire... Do you acually go to the US Open? If you don't support it then move on. The players show up every year because they know pool is dead and barry is better than NO money at all.

JT, it seems like you want Barry & the US Open to fail, is that correct?

So ypur saying the past was a success?

The truth is up until about 2000 the US Open was a success and got so big it had to be limited to 256 players. Then due some changes and personal problems and bad luck it went to hell. With good management there is no reason it can't be a top flight event again.

So your all saying that if only 60 players enter, the Taiwan players still have to come half way around the world for next to nothing? If so, this WILL be the last one.

Do I want to see the U.S 9-ball Open fail? I don't think Barry should ever get another chance and 9-ball is a joke anyhow for pros. Johnnyt

If a 1000 bucks is going to break the Taiwan player than they don't ever need to come. Who gives a crap when we got pro's here who are starving! Barry has screwed up alot over the years but there are alot of other people who have invested there money and such like Pat and accu stats that don't need all the negative wishes for the open. Atleast now we know exactly how you feel about the open and pro players trying to make a living playing 9ball. I guess they should join the apa.,they can try 8ball then ..thank you

I have never seen a tournament that guaranteed a full field. There are some that usually have one but there is no guarantee. The promoter guarantees the added money (although Barry hasn't done so well lately) but that is all. In trying to promote events try getting anyone to guarantee any number of top players to show up, it won't happen. You have to offer the event and hope some good top notch players will show and draw a crowd so you might get the added money back in sales.

Pat needs the Open for the DVD's he gets out of it to sell. I like Pat, but lets get real why he's helping. Barry does the Open for his big ego. Don't think so? How about we don't see or hear him a mike for the 7 days? What other promoter take up hours of time while the players sit with their ...............A$$?

Johnny, I'm with you on this one. The way this event is ran isn't helping pool at all. Hopefully things will change with the Tournament room opening on the coast over there on that side of the world. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a refund if people decided to pull out.

do you have anything nice to say?really youre just a gargoyle sitting around *****ing about what someone else is responsible for..saying pat is anything other than a good guy makes you look like what you are
and btw which retard do you know who is in business to lose money?

The 75K in added money is there (in the purse) regardless of how many players enter! That much I'm sure about. On another note, I'm willing to bet there are over 100 players in this year's U.S. Open 9-Ball. I can't bet on the matches or individual players but I can bet on this. Any takers - the window is open!

Why don't you do it it like the world series of poker. Have a showing of the cash in front of all the players stacked up,because your the only one handling it correct? Rich
