I am having an issue lalrely when putting on tips they I get one side of the tip a little high and its stubborn to get flush with the ferrule, I have a porper mini lathe and am still using the original blade that's a few yrs old, ( I only do maybe 20 tips a yr) would it be time for a new blade or could it be another issue? Thanks for any ideas or solutions...

Indicate the ferrule to make sure it's spinning really close to being true.
If you can't , then you have to use a utility blade or OLFA blade by hand while it's spinning.
I'm assuming your blade is still very sharp.
HSS parting tool works well for trimming the sides too.

Go to Home Depot and buy a package of Stanley Carbide utility blades.

Pack of five is about 5 bucks. Makes a huge difference and stay very sharp very long time.

Good luck,

Rick

Forget all that and buy some short planer knives.

Cat out of bag.

Carbide saw in Ventura will know what you want if you mention me.
