I love my DP's, and they're the best value out there bar none. I'm sure that once he's no longer selling them on fleabay their value will go up, and fairly quick. to the dudes saying production cues have'nt gone up in value, are you kidding me?,lol. you must be living in a different world than i am. anyhow, i think we know who needs a clue.

I would be surprised to see Dale quit making his ebay cues, or any cues in the near future. If he is making money, then he will continue until he dies, but then there will probably be somebody in the shop to continue the process, and keep them labeled as DP cues on ebay. It will never end!!!!
There is a better chance of his own inability to make another "unique" 1/1 cue, then him quitting and the value of his cues rising in value.
BTW - Yeah, the Mcdermott site shows how all of THEIR production cues have gone up in value. But once again (as many others have said before me) - Value is only what somebody will pay for it. Anybody can LIST a value/price for something, but until cash changes hands, its value is speculative.
I wonder why McDermott (and other production cue companies) would show how their older cues have increased in value over the years? hmmmmmmmmm.......
Just giving my 2 cents - (which I value at $1,000,000 - any takers?)

Just look at all the over priced sneaky petes running around these days for 4-600. that's cue making 101 right there, you're paying for the name on it, not the cue. As far as i'm concerned alot of the hyped up crap that's came out in the last 15 years is just that, hype. crap "unilock" joints, $300 shafts, etc. real players dont need no lil kitty cat on their shaft to get out, and they sure are'nt too lazy to screw a shaft on a butt to play some either. to me ,that's what DP's cues say, F the B.S., and the hype. good cue, at a good price. anyone that pays more than $1500 on a new cue, and the makers still alive and making cues, is getting robbed imo, and it better be a pretty mofo at that,lol. maybe what DP's doing will have some effect on all the relatively new cuemakers, that are charging overly inflated prices.4-5 g's for a cue that does'nt even have real ivory, and the maker's only been building cues for a short while?please..

Dale was an accountant before he was a cuemaker. He's not lacking in business experience. I see him every week as he plays in our APA 9-ball league. A nice guy and shoots good.

For $150.00 1of1 with documents. How could you go wrong, Right!
The cue arrived The shaft had a bad wobble to it and when assembled
The wobble got worse. Maybe a joint problem as well. I never chalked the cue.
I put it back in the box and sent it back for a refund, the return UPS
costs was a bargain not having to keep the cue. I did get a refund but
Learned a cheep lesson!

I talked to him after reading on his site that a custom cue maker should answer his phone and be polite. He was not rude to me but deffinately not the nicest guy either. I work in sales and also sell cues and cases. Out of all the production cue makers and custom makers and sellers I have talked to he was the least helpful. As for his product I have only seen 1 of his cues in person and the guy said he liked it

funny, i've bought 3 of them now, and every one is straight as an arrow, and every one of them hits better than my $2k. custom. not sure what kinda joint problem you could have with a flatfaced huge radial pin, but, if you say so. you prolly should've sent the shaft back and got a new one. your loss, i'm sure. every one i let hit balls with one of mine, can't believe how good it hits em. then when i tell them what i paid for it, they're like no blankin way, i gotta get me one of those. his customer service has been excellent as well, with me at least. the first one i ordered, i ordered the wrong size shaft (brain fart), sent him an email, rather than ringing a busy mans phone off the hook, cause we all know how happy it makes us when people do that, and we're trying to get stuff done, right? he replies back saying, no prob, just send it back and we'll get you the one you want right away. which he did, and i only paid the shipping for it to get there. seems like pretty good CS to me. personally, i plan on gettin as many of them as i can get my hands on, it's not like i'm worried that i won't be able to get my $150-$200 back out of them,lol. ya snooze ya lose, as they say.
My wife and I have 4 DPs. Not our main players but I love bringing them out once in awhile for a few games.

They're great looking cues that play very well and for the money, I doubt you can find a better cue.

To the post who claims that production cues go up in value and DP cues are going to be worth something, stop reading his Ebay listings. HIS cues will never go up in value. Way too many and way too bad of a reputation. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy one, just don't expect appreciation. Same with production cues. Brand new super fancy production cues rarely go for over $1000 let alone old ones that sold for $200. Either you're posting just for the reaction or you have absolutely no grip on the reality of the cue market.

I bought a DP cue off of ebay a on the 26th of march. sent payment the same day and received it a day before the date it would come in ! I called him up one day to ask him a few questions. yeah not the nicest guy in the world but not some Douche either. When i eagerly opened the box (which was decently packed) it had my cue wrapped up nicely so it wouldn't get damaged and a certificate of authenticity. Im not the type to care for that small piece of paper so i just shoved it aside and unwrapped the cue.. ALOT nicer than the pics online. Soon after i ran over to the local pool hall down the street and rolled it on the table. straight as an arrow i must say but the tip was shaped a little lop sided..(didn't really appreciate that but fixed it with my tip shaper which took like 30 seconds.) The hit was great on it! but i wasn't convinced. four of my pool buddies came in and i showed them my recent investment (which i dont plan on selling cause ill just lose money). they were all stunned by its beauty and wanted to test it out. ALL of them said they loved the hit so im convinced it was a good buy. Im replacing the shaft with a 314 first gen which should be coming soon. Im expecting a very good playing cue out of it for many years to come.
All that bickering about the value of his cues and what not is all pointless. IF your looking for a GOOD cue for the MONEY and dont plan on SELLING it. DP is definitely the way to go. Ive been playing pool for 3 years and is ranked a 6 in apa for 8 ball and 9 ball. I may not be the best player but i think i know what im talkin about. Good luck everyone

i brag about mine,lol. see my sig. i still disagree with the rest. hell, even mcdermotts go up in value, and there's a hell of alot more of them floating around. and imo, their hit does'nt hold a candle to DP's, like not even close. I'm not saying they're gonna increase a bunch, or in a short time even. just saying that when he's done selling them on fleabay, i don't think it'll be very hard to get one's $ back out of them, and maybe even make a lil profit. i've watched the same cue resell on ebay for close to a hundred bucks more than the first time too so. i will say the fit and finish is'nt that of a $2k cue, but i still think for the money they're unbeatable. in fact if you have, or can point me in the direction of where i can get another cue of this caliber for the same money, please let me know cause i want one.
buy yourself and old duffren....i promise they play as good or better....just and idea...and you will allways be able to get your 60 bucks back...:thumbup:

DPs cues are decent for the price, poor customer service and little resale value. My girlfriend has a DP and loves it, but she received horrible service and he messed up on the turquoise inlays in a couple of spots even after fixing them a 2nd time. You will lose money, not make money at least on here if you sell one. If you think otherwise post in the for sale section and good luck.
I have owned several DP myself and I do agree that his cue are worth the money, this is an excellent cue for players wanting to buy a first time cue. I highly recommend it! I asked several cue makers and they dont understand how he makes money on selling a cue for $150 with a stainless steel joint with a radial pin.

The reality is you're stuck with the DP you realize its a decent cue but not a great cue. In the back of your head you have your doubts and kind of think perhaps you could've gotten something better. You are not totally happy but you already committed. You try to push back these thoughts by rationalizing and try to convince yourself that this is the best cue ever. You take every opportunity to talk up his cues as perhaps if you could convince people then that vindicates your poor choice.
lol, no i dont think they're the best cues in the world. i'm not that delusional. just great for the price. plus i like the fact that it doubles as a pretty brutal weapon. just think if you were to stick the HUGE -8 pin in some ones eye, twist it a couple times and pull, not only would you get the eye, i bet you'd get the brain too.lol. seriously tho, i like the fact that while they look and play nice, i dont worry about them getting knocked over by a clumsy waitress, or a drunk, or even my own pump handle stroke besides, in this crappy economy, any cue of mine that's worth more than $300 has to be home by the time the street lights come on
