I confirmed with Tommy Rey that our friend Jeff

better known as Bumperman to pool players passed
away Thursday morning at 10 AM ,I think

We had played several times and became friennds

He was a fixture in the action room at the Derby City

Many of you will remember his personal airplane
crash not long ago.

I

he almost single handedly supported the pool scene in Dallas for years

He was not a great player, about myspeed but he really enjoyed playing

I remember him playing Ronnie one handed and the fun we had
now they are both gone

How short and fleeting is this life

RIP

Didn't know him well. We only chatted a couple of times. He seemed like a nice enough guy to me. We talked about things besides pool. He was no dummy. Sorry to hear this news. He is younger than me, maybe late 60's I think.

He came to Tulsa a couple times in his super nice motorhome. Guy sure liked action. RIP

I always talked to him at the Derby, very friendly, used to ride around on a Segway until they made him stop. I think he told me he owned several paint and body shops. Our prayers are with his family.

IIRC he also helped design/invent a machine that straightened car bumpers and sold them to body shops all over. Nice guy that loved pool and action.

I remember even a bad leg could not keep him out of action. He played using one of those scooters so he could get around and shoot.

R.I.P. Bumperman.

A fixture at Skillman for many yrs. I've watched him tangle with a boatload of em over the yrs.
Thay all wanted a piece, because he was the best score around if you could get him.
The scheming on him was hilarious at times.
How did he die?

Tommy said it was a heart attack

Bumper was a very memorable person
he loved pool and action,he wasn't afraid to bet it up

He played everyone in Dallas Billy,Tommy,Ronnie allen, myself and who knows who else

He also staked people down on their luck,I think he took a few bad games just to help others out

With Bumper passing, Billy aging, myself sulking and tommy wondering who to play,
the fyture of action in Dallas is not that bright

He was one hell of a character.

I met him years ago in San Antonio when he came to town with his nephew. His nephew was in action and I was just hitting balls around on the next table. Bumperman asked me about my custom made Judd cue and I asked him what he played with and he pulled out a southwest and showed me the cactus logo on the pin and I said, "oh, hecho in Mexico" Then he asked me how I was able to get so much draw on the cue ball, said it looked like I had a string on the cue. I said, well, first thing you need to do is get rid of that broom stick cue of yours. So, I guess I pushed him far enough for him to ask me to play some, I knew he played for big money from what my friend was telling me and I noticed he was driving a new Tesla. I said, sure, two dollars a game enough to get you into some action. He laughed and racked the balls. I had him down about six dollars and I said, hey, wait a minute, do you have the money to cover your bets, I don't want no air barrels. He pulled out a huge wade of cash and asked if I wanted to hold it to feel safe that he could cover the bet. We had a great time and talked on the phone many times after that. I remember when he had the plane crash and the article said there was a large sum of money on the plane. Hell, we figured that was just going to walmart pocket change for him.

sometimes you don't realize how much you will
miss a guy until he is gone

I hope I can remember to treat everyone as if it was the last time
I mean in a friendly kind way

I am ashamed to say, I haven't in the past

I invited bumper over with his wife for dinner and visiting
he said we need to do that.It never happened.

He spent a lot of time away from home at the pool room
but from the way he talked it was obvious how much he loved
his wife and son.

sometimes a man just has a side of him that craves inter action the guys.
In a manly way of course, something a wife might find hard to understand.

I don't understand myself,sometimes i think I wasted a lot of time
at the stinking pool room

R.I.P., Bump

Was waiting to hear more. So shocking to lose a good friend so suddenly.
Hoping it was just a bad rumor.

Jeff was a very big hearted man, who if he liked you would just about do anything for you. Very successful businessman, some would say a genius.

I know the Dallas-Ft. Worth pool world is really going to miss Bumperman.

I know I will. RIP, Jeff:sorry:
