damaged wrap...

Last night I caught my lambros on the edge of the table at the club. Darn old table has steel corners with sharp edges. It caught it right on the wrap which I guess is fortunate..easier to replace the wrap then if it took a chunk of wood. Is there anything I should do to this to smooth it out or seal it until I can get the wrap replaced? It sucks I just got it rewrapped in march!

Man, that's nothing! Just a little character, is all...I wouldn't touch it, you can hardly see it...and it doesn't appear to have even broken through more than the surface. Anything you do to it will likely be worse than what's there now.
 
Actually it tore back. I pushed it back in and smoothed it out with my hand
 
A little crazy glue will hold the flap down,
And a little more will fill the "hole"
 
I would fix it with contact cement.Fold the piece back,put contact cement on both surfaces and let dry. Fold the piece back into place. If you get any excess on the leather,a gum eraser or pencil eraser will remove it. I've fixed several this way and it always works for me.I'm sure other ways will work as well.

I understand if you can't live with it in it's current condition, I'm somewhat like that as well. But I'm with the other comments..leave it alone.

When I raced superbike and we bought new leathers, we would roll around in the parking lot with them on. It was a ritual of sorts, but at least we never worried about crashing and "blemishing" our new leathers! It was actually really funny seeing one or two of us rolling around on the pavement while a dozen or so of our buddies were cheering us on! I'm not saying throw your cue on the ground, but I think you get my drift!

I agree with this. Something else to do after this would be to use a small amount of clear/neutral shoepolish over the area and then buff it. that would sealout any moisture, etc.

I'm not worried about the look.. it looks worse in the pic then it is. I can feel the edge of it sometimes in my grip. That is a bit annoying.

The super glue worked beautifully! Can't even see it there BUT lol I had a little glue on my finger and it put a smear on the finish of the wood. Anything I can do to take care of that without damaging the finish?

I did the same thing...would love to hear an answer to this question!!!!
 
Wet sand and then polish. Would start with 2000 and go up to 3000 and then polish with buffing wheel and polishing compound.

Oh yes, do not use super glue on leather wrap, use contact cement as it will rub off the finish and you do not have to worry about glueing yourself to the cue. I think several people suggested this already as this is how the wrap was originally put on.

If you do not know how to wet sand and polish take to a good repairman.
 
Exactly. It's a small mark and it sounds like a job for a professional.
 
Believe it or not, normal superglue is water soluable. You can take a damp cloth and lay it over just the smear for a bit, then try to rub it off. Also, you can get superglue debonder at Woodcraft, that will work very well. I had glue spray into my glasses and this stuff took it off, with patience.

baby oil works too
and your cue smells good afterwards:thumbup:
got some on a butt i had just buffed out one time
rubbed gently with cloth, just working it and working it
then it all lifted off
