I managed to rupture my Achilles tendon this afternoon playing Badminton. (Someone really needs to figure out a way to play Pool and get a cardiovascular workout at the same time so I wouldn't have to mess with such things.) I need an MRI before the quacks will know how bad it is, but no matter what I won't be able to play for a month or so I guess.

So now I'm just sitting on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and going through all the ESPN Billiards that my DVR has captured. Karen Corr just three-peated in the 2004 BCA US Open in 2004. Poor Allison, she just hates to lose doesn't she?

I know a lot of people in life have it much worse than I do. After all I have cable TV, health insurance, a loving family to look after me and no imminent threat of a hurricane ripping the roof off my house, so please take no notice, I just felt like venting.

Dude, I took a tumble down some steps in mid June and I got to spend my entire summer vacation with an infection in my leg. Living on the sofa, eating medicine, watching anything I could keep my eyes open long enough for. I went out once to shoot some pool with Okinawa77 and my leg swelled up like a balloon. I get to go to the doctor today for a check up. Hopefully she's going to give me a green light to get active again.

Man, stay off of it and don't let it get infected. If it even looks like it's turning red have the shit checked out asap. Leg/foot injuries take forever to heal. I hope you're lucky enough to be out and about again in a month.

really want to shoot some pool

Scott - Thanks, but reminding me I'm only 20 feet away from a table I can't play for months is not really helping!

Vagabond - Feel free to call my cell. Are you up a Hollywood Billiards or Riverside this weekend?

Mully - Sorry to hear about your leg. I didn't think about post-rupture infections but I'll watch out for it. Fortunately my wife is a RN so she'll make sure I don't let anything go too far.

Milo - Yes, I am lucky every day. I'm just down and frustrated right now, but I know it will get better in the end.

SJM - Thanks!

Tough injury and I am sorry to hear about it.

Follow the docs orders. There have been a couple football players come back very well lately.

I have heard that it is a very painful intial injury. However, you have to come up with something better than badminton
You were stopping a robbery, or diving to get a kid out of the way of a speeding car, wrestling an alligator or playing Efren !

Get better and keep us updated.

Does that mean we now play even and you can spank me? LOL :p  ;)

Sorry for your current troublems. Hope you are up hobbling around soon.

My songwriting and pool partner completely tore his Achilles tendon loose from the foot and had to have it surgically reattached. Once he was able to move around enough to get to the pool table we started playing again. He used an office chair with wheels as a rest for the foot in the cast with his knee on it to push around the table. Don't give up hope! :)

And they say, even to this day, when the night is still and the moon is full you can still hear the unearthly squeaking of that chair

Thanks for the well wishes! Maybe I'll have to try that method. Did he win playing like that?

Actually I was dancing with the young ladies in your avatar and slipped on some banana body oil.

You are right, that is so much better. (Unless my wife reads this in which case the ankle will be the least of my worries!)

Sure, I'll just glue a tip on the end of one of my crutches and administer your much deserved punishment! I'm sure this is going to look great on TAR. ;-)

Thanks for the well wishes Linda.

you never heard of Full Contact Pool? Probably not...the first rule is that you don't talk about Full contact pool!

Earl tried it but got DQ'd for using the cue as a nunchaku in a tournament...

but that seriously sucks man...hope it turns out ok!

He held his own, although the games went VERY slowly and he sweated a lot!

I wish you a quick recovery and look on the bright side. You could have been playing against David Ortiz and Brian Urlacher....that could have been REALLY dangerous :grin-square:

BEST WISHES
If memory serves I briefly met/saw you and Linda at Danny K's maybe 2-3 years ago. I think Linda was in town on travel related business and you may have come up to Anaheim on business as well. Both of you played well and seemed to enjoy the crew at Danny's.

My sister is an RN Nurse Practioner/w Master's- somewhat clinical-not big on sympathy-so I try to find that empathy re medical issues from my buddies.

Keep your legs up-take care!

Heh, thanks for the video George. I had the surgery last night so now I'm REALLY feeling sorry for myself and that cheered me up. (Well, that and the wacky meds they're giving me.)

Hope your recovery goes well. I had surgery for a broken collarbone last year and the first 48 hours were rough. I was out of pool for about 4 weeks and it was about 4 months until I was back to 100%. My game didn't suffer much, so you should be fine.

Percocet is indeed a good thing :)
