This could go down in history as the biggest troll thread ever.
I think it's high time the Academy adresses the repressive, exclusive, and offensive term "Straight Pool".
We need to have a national conversation. The nation...dare I say the Universe...needs to heal.

What? No Masse's allowed? There was a proposal at a National Conference for the Advancement of Billiards Sports Tourism (NCABST) to update "Straight Pool" to Linear Pool or 14.1.
Linear Pool is a better term for billiard scholars focused on areas of billiards as a mathematical model. The concept of straight pool is perpetuating a misconception about straightness.
There was a research paper from a student at the Harriman Academy, discussing how straight on a pool table translates into multiples types of straightness. Straight cue stroke, straight cue ball path, object ball goes straight into a pocket. The cultural problem is very few players know how straight they are shooting. There is no metric for who shot straighter. The student was interested in developing a project for billiards technology that will provide how straight a player is shooting.
Back to Linear Pool: the main mathematical assumption is that straight along curved paths does not look straight but actually are. Linear Pool is language that aligns with the proper mathematical terms. This alignment can provide a pathway for students to transition into undergraduate level research. However the academic institutions have to start promoting billiard clubs to make it clear which Higher Education Institutions are billiard friendly.
Is anyone interested in attending the Harriman Academy Open House? At the open house students/instructors will exhibit their work anonymously for a silent vote to decide the competition winner.
I find it bordering on negligent that phrase remains, given balls are touching.I think it's high time the Academy adresses the repressive, exclusive, and offensive term "Straight Pool".

When is the meeting, for potential attendees' planning purposes?

You are a meme fake boyThis year we are trying to do a meme session. All participants are asked to submit a meme providing a simple explanation of their thesis.
Ghecko45, the original mall ninja would disagree...however it might be the greatest since then...the art is in the people actually taking it seriously and replying as such. Genius. This could go down in history as the biggest troll thread ever.
You're welcomeHi thanks for your feedback @Straightpool_99.
No sport has lower barriers between fans and pros. I've met pros from almost every cue sport, including Snooker, Blackball and Pool. I've played them and spoken to them. That isn't rare at all. Anyone who's proficient and who's travelled a bit can probably claim the same.In other sports there are clear conversations to have between players and fans.
That isn't rare.Pool is one of the rare sports that has a lot of participation from a diverse field of people speaking different languages.
Are you giving me homework now? I have to respectfully decline, as I have been involved with actual organizations in pool who really did something and knew what they were doing. Even co-founded one. Your organization seems rather heavy on words and light on substance. Come back to me when you actually have something to show for all the words, and we'll talk. I'll even write your stupid essay and throw in some quasi intellectual nonsense, like linking the pool rack to Maslows hierarchy of needs pyramid or something equally stupid and far fetched, since you seem to get off on that stuff. If your interested in meeting the Harriman Academy Committee on Billiard Cultural Immersion Activities (BCIA), then submit a 500 word article or less about social norms that exist only because of pool tournaments.
Haha, that's a good one. There was a proposal at a National Conference for the Advancement of Billiards Sports Tourism (NCABST) to update "Straight Pool" to Linear Pool or 14.1.

I hope for his own sake that it's a giant put-on, in which case job well done. This could go down in history as the biggest troll thread ever.
If your not nurturing the next generation of pool fans or players then poolI hope for his own sake that it's a giant put-on, in which case job well done.

will never grow or be accepted like other sports.
