Darren Appleton, Earl Strickland and Shane Van Boening

I guess I don't see $1000 as such a small amount.

I hate to say this but....

$1,000 winner take all??

Then the flyer states there are 50 VIP seats available at $20 dollars a pop.

They are really laying it all on the line with this one. I guess I don't fault them. It's just really hard to believe you can get 3 champions in the room for such a small amount of money. Maybe they are getting hefty appearance fees. For their sake - I hope so.

Not really sure how much I like ring games but I would still probably watch this.

I don't think anyone bought a plane ticket for 1k, they just got all these champs in the room, might as well get them in a game and use ticket sales to give them a little cash incentive. Wonder if they'll side bet.

I'm not in new england anymore, dc area now more or less. I didn't bother changing it cuz I try to keep the personal info to a minimum anyway. 3 hours isn't too bad a drive, if some md or virginia AZer wants to carpool I'd be game.

I think table time will be free. So if they don't win...it'll be good practice.

If you make it let me know.... I'll likely knock off setting up early enough to come watch at least the last part of it if everything is going smoothly... Actually got to watch the last 4-5 games of the challenge match last year so who knows.... Other than that I will be at the Tournament Venue the entire duration and then some....

Seems like a smallish amount, but if there are good with it great. Might make it more fun to watch since they will be more relaxed vs. if playing for 10,000 or more...

I hope Inside Pool streams it...

Just curious... Where in New England are you that's only a three hour drive away?
HE needs to update his location, for sure. He belongs to DC now.

Ring game pool is great. total offense and massive reward for running out from wherever you happen to be starting from.

I would have liked to see 4 players, but the 3 named are gonna put on a fine show.

Pardon my ignorance but what is ring game? Also what is race to?
$1K is really pocket change peanuts money for 3 champs to play in. It is shameful the pittance small money pool players are paid compared to snooker players
especially considering that globally there are more people playing and watching pool than boring snooker:)

I must confess, I have been following pool for about 15 years and I don't really know what a ring game is either. Anybody care to explain exactly what a ring game is?

I give Earl the slight edge here.

Here's a vid of a ring game at the Derby.

It's a fun format and lots of freewheeling because there are no safeties and players have to go for everything. I like playing ring games, but with good players, sometimes you have to sit for a long, long time and watch helplessly as your bankroll shrinks. Then finally, the guy before you misses and you jump to the table and there's no clear shot, and then the cycle of pain begins again.

I would love to make $1,000 in three hours just hitting balls around with my friends.

Heck, I get paid nothing and practice longer than that on some days.:frown:

People that love pool...do this for free all the time.

If you were shooting in this ring game, which player would you rather follow? :D

I wish I had a picture of every shortstop that jumped into a real ring game and went bust without getting a shot funny as hell

I'd want to follow Earl. At his age, he'll dog more shots than the others.

Plus before he shoots, I'd give him the look and wave my arms and ask him to speed it up.:D

AZBTV will not be streaming the ring game sorry i took so long to post but i wish someone would stream it. If there is a chance we can stream this great ring game i will keep everyone up to date in the Live Stream section. I put this in the main forum to let those know that want to attend in person.

I'd win the lag, let them work it out :). Is it winner rebreaks, or rotate like the dealer in poker. Are they doubling up because of time constraints?

For sure, the lag is one of the most important shots of the game, yet I see few players ever practicing the lag to get a feel for the equipment before a match. :o

In pool, the lag is a skill set, more so than a coin flip. :p

I'll take Earl

Darren Appleton, Earl Strickland and Shane Van Boening in a ring game Winner take All.

Would be nice if the poster/flyer mentioned where Q Masters is located...might even increase spectator attendance...

Nearly impossible to pick a favorite here, but I'd have to go with Earl as he's played far more ring games than either of the others.

Q Masters is located at 5612 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Should be a great match!
