Darren Forfeits Beloit

Well I was there, and if there is anything that is for certain, it's that Jesse was NOT the reason why that match ended at 12:38am!!!

All the matches take 2-3hrs.. This match I played a little slower because I played all day and was struggling with fatigue.. I don't take drugs to keep me going all day and night like some of them guys in the tournament .

Darren

It's rather simple.
I seen this happen before, the same type of thing, and this is what the guy in Louisiana did a few years ago to Jeremy Jones. I bought Jeremy in the Pro/Am event, we were final 16 of the winners side, I proceed to beat him like 7 to 3. So he's pissed and forfeits out of the pro/am and the pro event and left the building.

Well word spread pretty quick, the guy that bought him in the pro event says, he's paying me back or getting an ass whooping and may not be playing pool for awhile. Guess what happened next, he (JJ) found a way to get the cash, lol. Myself I didn't give a shit if I bought him in the pro/am, I'm there to try and win the event myself, I've knocked my horses off numerous times.

Sometimes harsh consequences sets those elite guys straight and they don't do that again. It's a rough world out in the billiards business.

Pool gets a bad rap for stuff like what happened here. Players missing matches and screwing off bidders money. Or players dumping matches. Or players being all jacked up on every drug on earth. I've seen most all in my 22 years in this game. Sadly, it's never going to change and these PROS are never going to make any real money, outside of a smart 1 or 2 every generation.

Darren is a great player and ambassador for pool. MYbe him giving this guy the option to buy his half in his next Calcutta event is something he could do. Or maybe giving the guy some kind of lessons for like an 8 or 10 hour session. Something to get this bad mojo off people off his back.

That's more than what U would get from any other professional sportsman.

Darren.

Darren you are right. This whole thing is foolish, Darren signed up and played this tournament for Darren. Its a shame the OP is out money but it was just a side bet on a player. No one feels worse the Darren over this so we all need to move on.

I was not implying that you played too slow, just that Jesse plays REALLY REALLY fast!

Your logic is flawed. The reason why sports do not like this behavior is exactly because it has an impact on the bottom line.

So you've now told me to "give it a rest" and "lighten up", what gives?

Really, how much did the NFL make last year? As I recall, they had a really bad year "personnel" wise. yet, the stadiums were filled to the gills, TV contracts were flush, fantasy football was rolling, and the superbowl was seen in 100 countries.

Can you imagine what would have happened if they had one oversleeper.

Problem is this.

EVERY single last PRO player wants a jelly every time they cash in these things, but take ZERO responsibility when they FCUK off someone else's hard earned money like this (The PRO is never at fault, lol). That's where the problem is, they always want something for NOTHING. It will never change.

And whether you want to believe it or not, these things (calcuttas) do bring money into the pro side of pool and put money in those players pockets.

There is never any Calcutta at professional events fact ..so they bring absolutely nothing into pro events what so ever .

I've never recieved a penny from anyone when I been involved in a Calcutta and cashed .. Didn't ask didn't expect anything I just collected what I went there for and come home..

I never ask for anything it's none of business but if they want to tip there horse that's upto them.

But I've never recieved anything just my half when I buy myself

Was the Galveston World Classic without a Calcutta? It did have a pro only 10 ball and one pocket.

And I said they bring money into pro pool, not necessarily a pro event. But they do put money into pro players pockets without a doubt and bring new blood into the game of billiards.

And I completely agree with you about if they want to tip they can, if not no biggie. But you are of the 1% of PROS on this issue. I've been around calcuttas and pool as long as you have, and they(99%) always have their hands out.

DAZ this was just unfortunate. Perhaps you can throw the guy some free hours of lessons, your dvd, maybe a signed Mosconi jersey or something. Just something to show him how upset you are at the whole situation too. He lost a good chunk, throw the man some paraphernalia one time, it won't hurt and it will go along way in everyone's book.

We all know he's not getting his $ back, he risked it and lost to unfortunate reasons. If you play that match there's a real good chance that Sky Woodward does not win the event like happened, this may have affected the 3 players in front of you as well.

Seems 2-3 people don't get it .. Everyone else thanks for support ..

The guy that buy me in Calcutta is fine and understand the situation so that's all that matters end of day.. He understands it's gambling and knows I didn't miss my match on purpose was just one of those freaky things unfortunately

Always gonna get one two ppl that can't let it go that's life.

Thanks everyone else for support and understanding.

See you down the road. :)

The event is all ifs and buts now ..

But if the guy contacts me no problem when I see him I will give him a lesson . DVDs a signed shirt no problem . 😊

I'm not hard to find I don't know the guy that buy me.. But I will be happy to give him some freebies if he contacts me.

Best of luck in upcoming W9B in few months :D

The NFL is terrifically successful, I wouldn't debate that. My point is that unprofessional behavior (of which, missing a start -for any reason- is just one small example) negatively impacts even the NFL's bottom line. The fact that the NFL enjoys so much popularity in the US, they are able to fade such behavior without suffering a critical impact to their bottom line. However, there is an impact, rest assured. And, for sports like pool, that don't enjoy this embedded popularity, the impact may be more significant.

sorry, the NFL felt NO impact for the bad behavior of a few of the knuckleheads. And pool suffered none from an over sleeper... mainly because NOBODY even knew it happened, and the ones that did, don't care.

People oversleep all the TIME. This is not breaking news. However, raping and beating your girlfriend happens a lot less frequent in society, yet the NFL fades that bad action to the tune of BILLIONS each year. Thus, pool can fade one tired dude ;)
