Darren is still the man

I'm not a fan of Appleton after the jumping on the table incident at the WPC and the dq incident. Still, he is an awesome player. Nobody in the US will ever acknowledge this, however.

I like SVB, I even cheer for him most of the time he plays. He's just a great guy and a true professional. All that being said, I have to admit that the AZ SVB bias is approaching a critical level. The site will probably be renamed SVBilliards any day now. Even if SVB should go through a tournament without winning a single match, somehow it would be spun into a victory for him. It's just getting ridiculous.

Congrats to Mr. Appleton and better luck next time for Hohman, who is surely capable of winning an event like this.
..
.what well he does not need fans like you he celebrated winning a world title dude get real loads of top players have jumped on the table after a big win ...

On a side note the promotion SVB gets by the pool media is sometimes sickening.

For example, if he had won the news would be all over here. Yet the news on here about Darren remains to be about a d.q. with little to no mention of the domination he displayed.

Another example, look at the title of this article and how SVB gets the attention in the headlines while the fact that Darren is winning is secondary.

Congrats to Darren for a great showing under a little more even conditions.

I agree. This was some serious domination by Darren that should be viewed as just that.

I was very curious to see what would happen in the eight ball especially. From my vantage point, the three biggest eight ball events ever played in America were 1) IPT Reno 2006 won by Reyes, IPT Las Vegas 2006 won by Hohmann and 3) 2013 US Open 8-ball won by Van Boening. Darren, an eight baller by training, missed the US Open 8-ball last summer because it coincided with the World Games event. Darren beat both Hohmann and Van Boening in eight ball this weekend at Sandcastle.

The CSI Invitational Eight Ball event at the Rio this summer should be breathtaking!

I think it's unfortunate that this event was not recorded and archived. I paid for the previous 14.1 and 1-pocket MIH invitationals and would have loved to have a chance to see this one but that is not possible now. This is a loss for pool IMO.[/QUOTE said:
Are you sure about that? I believe there will be dvd's available.

"There are NO archived matches for this tournament
It is being broadcast LIVE ONLY."

what does that quote have to do with DVDs?
They advertised a bunch of package deals in advance for DVDs. I'm sure you can get DVDs.

at the moment, Daz is #1

ya that means BETTER than svb

svs imo won't catch up to him nor Dennis

You say that like SVB or Dennis hasn't beat Darren before. I would not be surprised if I found out that SVB and Dennis is up on Darren of all the times they've clashed.

Thanks for support I won 8 lost 4.. Won my first 7 from 7 and must admit I lost my focus ..

For the record head to head am up on both Dennis and Shane not much but am up..

I loved the format and accu stats do amazing job

I will be looking for all around matches in the future at sandcastle in that arena or one pocket ..and the matches can be streamed on accu-stats also

Great week thanks for all kind messages

Thank you for chiming in Darren. I stand corrected.

I am sorry I did not get to watch the event but congratulations all the same.

I can see where you got that impression, but I'd say SVB and Darren got 'equal' billing in that headline.
SVB's name just happened to come up first.

You could probably argue though that SVB needn't get mentioned at all and the headline
should read "Darren dominant going into day 5" or something.

But by mentioning that another player has a shot, they make it sound more interesting
and competitive. If they made it sound like a foregone conclusion that appleton won it...
some people might not bother tuning in because it sounds like a blowout.

OK, now before I go any further, how the fck do you read this chart??

Because no matter how I read it, the wins and losses don't seem to add up right.
I would think if you go left to right next to each player's name, the W's will equal their wins,
the white numbers = their losses, and the X's = N/A. All tallied at the far right.
But Darren has 7 green W's, not 8, and 5 lost games, not 4?

Appleton vs. Hohmonn in 10-Ball the win should have been given to Appleton but was given to
Hohmann by mistake.

A big congrats to you, Darren Appleton, well done sir !!!

Darren, you went 200 and out a few months ago in 14.1. That was one of the BEST live streams I ever watched. You didn't do so well in straight this tourney, but by then you'd all but won this awesome format against 3 of the best. Were the terriers sharking you, or was Angie wearing "that" skirt? ;)

Well done!

So make your argument who is the best AT THE MOMENT?

SVB and Alex are without a doubt the top 2. And they make their own case, EVERYTIME there's money on the light.

Alex excels at every single game on any billiards table. 8 ball, 10 ball, Onepocket, banks, straight pool, snooker, 3 cushion

OK- I didnt include snooker and billiards and the fact that Alex isnt really playing pool currently- I didnt include him. Was he even at the DCC this year?

SVB had 12 matches to prove his superiority and did not so on current form- i still like Daz.

Your argument is valid and so is mine.

Accu-stats definetly puts on a great show. Lets also give credit to Ed Lidawi the Sandman for hosting the event at the Sandcastle.

Alex isn't even in the conversation right now.

Darren, Shane and Orcullo are the three best all-around players right now but for the moment, I'd have to suggest that Dennis, based on his Derby City performance in which he won the bank pool, won the straight pool, came 4th in one pocket and came fourth in nine ball gets the nod over the other two.

Still, a case can be made for any of these three great players.
