Well, the Executive West is turning into a Crowne Plaza, The Executive West Inn is apparently scheduled to be a carpark. I heard rumours that thought was given to having part of this years DCC actually in the Conference Centre itself. I can't verify the validity of any of these points - but I have noted that the standard rates for the Crowne Plaza hotels are approx double the rack rates Exectutive West were charging (although these do obviously differ according to location).

Can Greg or any of the DCC crew shed any light on any of the plans for next year ?

The rumor mill here is that it will be held at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center. It is the large convention center across the street from the Executive West Hotel. Nothing is showing up on their calendar though... www.kyfairexpo.org. There would be concerns with this, they charge daily for parking, beer sales go through the Expo center (5 bucks). We'll wait and see what happens............

I'm kind of glad there's not a lot of completely wild rumors and speculation going on. It's a sign that the folks near to the scene are confident in the way things are being handled.

As long as there's an AZ room, I'll be happy. :D

I gurantee you the 2009 derby will be a disaster, people will not be happy about either place because of more money out of the consumers pocket. Big no no!! It is going to have to be in a place with simular prices!

Could you please explain the above post in great detail, as i have never been, and do not understand what you mean by.

Thanks

Another words they need to keep room rates the same & also by not charging more for beer, parking, food ect. This will hurt the attendance of people who will or not go!

Nothing stays the same for ever.

People will pay, whatever they have to pay, if they want to attend. They may lose a few nits, but that is not a big deal. The place will be crowded, wherever it is located.

Thanks for the reply.

We will just have to find out wont we!! Guarunted there will not be the crowd we have had in the past! It will slowly fade away. Then there is no tournament.

Just curious what you base this gloom and doom on? Do you know where the event will be held? Do you know what the prices will be? Is it possible that the guy who built the best pool tournament in the world may have some insight into what it takes to put it on and what has made it such a success?

I for one have a little faith in Greg and the Diamond crew. So what if it is in another location or some things cost a few more bucks. If someone lets that stop them from coming to the greatest pool show on earth it is their loss.

Support the DCC

TRUE TRUE TRUE !

Hey I'm not slammin anyone here (I wanna make that clear right up front, OK)

But, I for one would like wouldn't mind seeing some positive support for the Diamond guys and the DCC. How about staring a general wave of appreciation and (if you like the DCC, this year, last year and years before) just commiting and saying "Hell Yeah, I'm gonna go" - despite what rumours might circulate. Sure, the Diamond guys have a lot of logistics to sort out and still have to make it a viable financial venture; but we can all help make this a success by more word of mouth.

The more negative slants you hear and see posted about events; the more it will effect some players who are thinking of going. Hey, I'm not above sin here - I had a bit of a moan about the Windy City this/last year because of the lack of details in advance of the tourney - BUT I'm still gonna try and make my way there next year and mosie on down to the DCC after.

True the organisers need the players, but the players need good solid, salt of the earth forlks like those that plan, run and finance the DCC; in order to make GREAT tourneys for us to play in.

My point of this post is - can we get behind and support these guys. Running these things is SO often a thankless task, and whatever decisions they make will be for our benefit - to make the DCC better. Lets not lose sight of that.

I'm showing my support and am coming next year, whatever happens. Things might not be perfect there but I will see as I find. I'm flying a few thousand miles for it (not a bragg) - some people are coming much farther than that.

If you enjoy the DCC and all that is stands for, let these guys know that.

TAP TAP TAP. Well said. I, for one, am looking forward to going to DCC for the first time in 09. Our sport is already hurting and when 'we' slowly turn our backs on tournaments or even just supporting the people that go through a LOT of work to run them we can't blame anyone but ourselves. Whether next years DCC is perfect or not-so perfect, I'm sure it will be better than NO DCC at all.

Based on the forum talk in the last month,if there is a move to a diff. location. logic should indicate a increase on all expenses. Think about where the derby has been held at. Old hotel everything there for the most part was resonable. Newer location & economy will affect the rates GURANTED. Result- less people will show over the yrs.
