I'm curious how the talks between Mr. Sullivan and the casino went after the event was over. Was the casino pleased, displeased, interested in doing it again? Has Mr. Sullivan posted this elsewhere and I missed it? Thanks!
Greg was at last week's Turning Stone tournament and I believe he said at that time he had already met with the local Horseshoe people, but not with the bigger Harrah's people yet. He was hopeful, but kind of on pins & needles because the stakes were high, so to speak...
The casino would be foolish not to want the DCC back there next year. I bet they made more money than they would have if it had not been there.
I had a billing problem but talked to the accountant there at the horseshoe, she said that they definately wanted the DCC back at it is a "dead" time for them.
I hope Greg is a good negotator as there are lots of wiggle room now that they see the crowd.

I heard people were charged for using the mini bars when they were empty and were charged for extra days on their rooms. Is any of this true?
I havent heard anything about anybody being charged for mini bars or extra days. I thought the staff was way better then the EW. But thats just my personal opinion.

When we checked in, we were told if we used anything from the mini bar, we would be charged; we were also told if we put anything of our own in the mini bar, and then removed it, we would be charged. Needless to say we didn't even OPEN the door.
Actually, I was satisfied with the pricing of the drinks, and food at the Horseshoe, and had no surprises on my bill at checkout.
Still, I liked the EW better. Especially the walking distance issue.
If Greg could find another Harrah's with a bigger hall to provide more room for tables, that would help. I would go nearly anywhere in the US for the DCC (but then it wouldn't be the DERBY CITY CLASSIC!

I did that once somewhere-put a bottle of water in it and they charged me for Tequila or something. I got so aggravated and pissed i made them come and remove the mini bar from my room.

I sent an email to Diamond Billiards this week asking for an update on when the rooms might be available. Given the tournament is in January and there are NO rooms currently available, it can only mean (I HOPE) that the hotel has blocked even more rooms than last year and the signing of the contract is still incomplete.

Why not call the Horseshoe, and ask to speal to the Event booking Manager.

I called and they couldn't find the code until they looked with the beginning date being Jan 18. Computer glitch I guess. Bottom line is that the clerk was very persistent in looking through her computer codes etc and found how to get it to come up. I"m in for the 26th and check out the 31st.
can i pre register for the events? is there a limit to how many can get in? thanks
When I booked my room yesterday, they asked me if I wanted to be sent to the Tourney registration number. I'm sure they can help you.
