Without further ado, I present to you the banner for the ......

AZ BILLIARDS
ONEPOCKET.ORG
ROOM OF EXCELLENCE

I had to shrink the file so the detail is a little distorted, but believe me it looks GREAT;)


The banner is 4'x8' and it will have hookeyes in it for mounting. I am also fabricating 5 - 18"x24" directional signs with loose arrows with velcro on the back. That way you can mount your arrow in any direction(left, right, straight or even at a 45* angle) to point people to the "ROOM" I need to know where to ship it as well as who is footing the shipping charge:eek: :D :D

Seriously though, they will be complete tomorrow. Who is going to be responsible for receiving them? OHB, WBM? You guys Pm me with the info:D

As I posted in the DCC ROOM thread, I think you guys should get all of the "celebs" to sign the banner and the directionals as well and then auction them off to the highest bidder at a later date. The contribution can go to the charity of our choice in the name of AZBILLIARDS/1POCKET.ORG

Man, I can't tell you how impressed I am. I love it. I also love the idea of all of our guests signing it. If it looks like we will do it again next year, do you think that we should save it rather than auction it???

I will be going down to DCC on Friday afternoon the first Friday, and would be happy to take the banner and hang it. But I think OHB and Semperfi may be there early and it is possible they may prefer to do it. I will do it if they don't have the time or inclination. Give us a couple of days to sort it out.

Do I understand that you are not coming to the DCC? If you are coming, let me know because you certainly have honorary playing privileges.

Tough call there WBM. Defintely a great idea in getting the celebs to sign it, regardless of whether it will be kept or auctioned. It would be nice to hang onto it for future DCC events... If this goes off well, I'm sure we'll be getting a room every yr. I think every celeb should date the yr with their signature ('06). If it doesn't work out and it's not something that's ever going to happen again, then it should auctioned off for sure. Sizl's wishes & he's the one donating the banner. I vote we keep it for as long as we plan to get a room at DCC. If it goes on for a couple of yrs & then stops, I think it should be returned to Sizl to do as he pleases with it. JMO :)

Thanks WBM. I felt pretty good about the results myself! I will nip the debate in the bud, if the only problem with auctioning the banner off is having a banner for next year....well that is simple! I will GUARANTEE that if this DCC is a success(regarding the AZ/1P room) that I will produce another banner for the 07' DCC. AND I WILL BRING IT THIIS TIME:D
That being said WBM, I will not be able to attend this year, but my quarters are up and I got first game NEXT YEAR! Thanks for the gesture WBM;)

Thanks Timberly. As I said in my above post, I can produce another banner for the 07' DCC. You guys are the one coordinating the event, but I say if you can get the ball rolling with the autographs, lets go for it and auction it off. I am just glad to be able to contribute. Thanks

You made the sign and you donated the sign. When people donate something (usually large amounts of money) the end result of the donation pertains to the donators wishes. I think it's only fair that we honor your request. Since you're offering to keep the signs coming, I think it's a win, win for all involved. I obviously can't speak for the rest of the group & I'm certainly not trying to. If it's put to a vote, ya'll can put me down for following Todd's wishes. ;)

Sizl, very nice banner.

I think as we go through the "growing pains" of the first year of this adventure, we'll discover that the sum of each person's contributions (signs, organizational skills, professional expertise) will make an already unforgettable event even more special for us AZer's and OP.ORGer's.
 
The Banner

Great Job Sizl. Thank you.
The DCC has turned into a great event and a gathering of a really diverse group of pool players, Past, Present, and Future.
Just a thought, but why not have everyone autograph the banner, all the top guns of today, the Hall of Famers, and all the AZers and 1pocket.org people sign it. Save it and hang it, along with the new one next year. It could be the start of a nice tradition and something all pool players would be proud of.
I know, there is the cost of next years banner, well, I will pay for next years myself, because I am a bit of a sentimentalist.
Onepocket.org has done something truly special with their Hall of Fame. It is such a nice tribute. We could start our own Wall of Fame.
Just a thought.
 
Very nice job on the banner. To put in my .02 if Sizl wants to raffle it even if he doesn't make one for next year his wishes should be kept.

Nice Job Sizl ,that will get our attention when looking for the room !

Another thing that would be nice for posterity is a yearly banner AZB members can sign themselves as well as the pro's .Since the event is so long with people on different timetables arriving and leaving can see who they missed who was there and who was there the year before by dating it also ....I that that would be cool .

It could be kept on an interior wall or wherever as long as it doesn't turn into an eyesore with all the signatures everywhere

Ratchet -just another thought ??


I just seen another post such as mine ,I guess either I should read ALL the post's first or just put it down as great minds thinking alike lololol

I was waiting on a response to my PM so we could talk further about it. So you don't think you will be able to make it over to Dothan? I will give you a call and see if we can get together for a few games. You have a safe trip as well.
 
Thanks to every1 for their kind words, like I said earlier I am glad to be able to contribute in some way.

I really like all of your ideas about what we should do with the banner during as well as after the DCC. As you know I would like to have all of the "celebs" sign it and then auction it off with the proceeds going to charity. Some people brought up the fact about having the banner for next year's DCC, that is a very valid point and I have a solution to that problem which I will talk about in a minute.

Ironman brought up a GREAT idea of not only having the "celebs" sign it, but the AZ members as well (some also have the "celeb" status). I love that idea, so here is what I propose.................

I have produced TWO-4'x8' banners as you seen in the first post in this thread.

One of the banners is to be used for the main banner out in front of the room, to be KEPT and used NEXT YEAR. NO ONE SIGNS THIS BANNER:p

The Second, 4'x8' banner is to be used for the purpose of allowing all AZ & 1P Members to sign and is to be KEPT until next year so the members of AZ & 1P that are in attendance in 07' can sign it as well.

I also have produced a smaller version with the same layout that is 2'x4' in size.
This banner is to be signed by any and all CELEBS and it will be auctioned off after the tourney with the proceeds going to charity.

The last thing I want to mention is the directionals that I made. They will have the AZ and 1P logos on them with arrows leading you guys to the room.

This is a democracy we live in(some of us), So majority rules, so if any1 has a problem with this concept, let us hear about it:D

You guys enjoy and represent those of us that can attend WELL!
