dcc coverage sucks

is it me or is there a lack of coverage of the dcc? where are the stats and schedules and payouts? i'm sure the logistics of the tournament itself are horrendous and would be considerably worse to try to put out some info, but it sure would be nice to be able to follow the progress of the tournament. dont get me wrong, i appreciate tar and accustats and the websites, but do i have to wait for the publications to do the actual reporting of the event? if i missed the location of any site that can give me some info, someone please list it.

In the past, we have been able to run round by round reports from the event. They have new software this year, and there are problems causing us to not be able to run this reports as we had hoped.

You are totally right.

We at AZ are all pool fanatics. Yet there is coverage from only 5 days ago on the DCC.

I paid for both TAR and Accustats streaming coverage. The TAR was what was to be expected, meaning hit or miss action, but non-stop. The Efren match was epic.

The Accustats half the day there are not even any matches.

Both companies need to do a better job updating their websites. Its hard to follow their links, and know where to go to either buy a stream, or return to access your content.

I know all the promoters, from both TAR and Accustats are players at heart, and like to be involved in the action. However, they are now running a business, and need to keep the business aspect professional. That includes proper communication, via well laid out websites, updated websites, press releases, etc.

There are no charts anywhere for us fans to follow that are even remotely recent.

In the live TAR chat, if you ask about the tournament, the standard response is "we have nothing to do with it". I understand this, but damn, its like we can't get information about anything, from ANYONE.

I too appreciate the efforts of everyone, but they are frankly not enough.

We need a dedicated reporter to be there, with computer, and with web knowledge to keep all of us diehard fans updated.

If its a money thing, maybe if we chip in a few bucks, we can pay for a reporter to be there for future events.

Finally just want to add, I'm offering constructive criticism for both TAR, Accustats, and AZ staff. Before anyone goes off on me, I do pay for the streams. And what I said above is the truth about the situations I have observed on a regular basis over the past several years. All 3 companies need to improve.

Well here on AZ we all took a vote and next year YOU are our designated reporter. We all chipped in and from what i understand you can afford a dollar menu order of fries from mcdonalds as pay so what are you waiting for. GET TO WORK ALREADY we want stats play by plays and more.

Yes, I do recall the round by round updates in the past and it was fantastic. If feels like pullin' teeth to get results this year.

I find the coverage to be absolutely ridiculous this year. Seriously, this is a single-elimination redraw. All you need is Excel and the random function. Give me a VIP pass, decent room and food comps and I'll take care of the draws and posting results.

The DCC is a great idea and I wish I was able to attend. After this many years I just find it hard to believe that draws/results are an issue.

Inside Pool Mag has some pretty good interviews and write ups. Personally I don't go to their front page or even AZ's front page unless someone points me there.

I'd be happy to donate to an AZB FORUM ONLY reporter fund so that I could get my info fix without having to go anywhere but AZB's forums.

All of you who are offering to chip in for a reporter, see us next year. We tried to sell sponsorship of the DCC to a zillion different sponsors for the price of just covering our gas, hotel and food. No profit. No one even hesitated before saying no. Think times aren't tough in pool? That is one very cheap sponsorship to be unable to sell!

what about a payout list for the tournament! there is no summation of who won what for the each tournament? Mike can you post that for us poor people to dwell over? lol

Why don't we set up a contest or event through AZ to make it happen next year? Let's say to have one person up there for a week, you need approximately $2000???? If you do a push for membership in order to support this cause, I'd be willing to bet there would be more than enough willing to sign up. At $35 for the entire year, you could take $20 for the first 100 memberships, and there you have it.....$1500 for flight and hotel, along with $500 for food should do it.....

I'd be willing to join up for a cause....

I hate to say it, but it's going to get worse before it gets better from what I hear on the news. Times are tough for most of us and some of the Wall Street Fat Cats are still getting HUGE bonuses from the Tax Payer's bail out money! A lot of companies are hanging on by a thread and they just don't have the money to spend on sponsorship even for the amount you asked for to go to the DCC.

Here are the numbers. When it comes to food remember that the buffet at the Horseshoe is reported to be $20. And the room rate I quote includes the taxes.

Gasoline $80.00
Room $150 X 10nights $1500.00
Food @ $35 X 10 days X 2 people $ 700.00
internet for room $10 X 10 $100.00
Airfare from Phoenix $400.00
incidentals (Laundry, cokes, snacks, etc. $100.00
Total $2,880.00

We need $2500 for the sponsorship. And we will sell it for that amount for next year. Any company wishing to sponsor this trip will get their name on the top of our scoreboard with their logo. They will also get a free banner ad for the month that will be seen by over 250,000 sets of eyes, an interview on RunOut Radio and each news report will be titled as "Bank Pool at the Derby brought to you by XXXXXXX"). Lots of exposure for the buck.

Any takers?

Although there was a lack of updated coverage when I got back home on monday, there was some coming from DCC. DCC website was updating rounds as soon as they could. When the computer program started to malfunction, they were more focused on that. Then when the storm hit, and almost shut down the Casino, coverage slowed even more. Best advice, is watch here, and Inside Pool. JR. and his crew are at the tourney, and I saw them doing the interviews out in the main entry several times.

Speaking of lack of sponsorship, I heard a RUMOR that the WPBA lost big bucks in sponsorship and it will no longer be televised, just streamed. Again-only a rumor.

Don't feel too bad, IUTBR. I was at the tournament both as a player and spectator, and I could never find out what the standings were at any given time.

They had a computer page on a large monitor, scrolling down through all the players. But it just listed whether they had one or no buybacks available. And the results were all mixed in between the banks and 1P.

The only paper posting of any event tournament standings was Jay Helfert's display of the leader board in the Fatboy challenge.

You left out entry to the tourney, $100. What's the gas for? Did we rent a car, if so, $250 or so for car rental. Not that it is needed. There was a shuttle supplied from the airport, and no place to go frod DCC.

I have to drive from Atlanta and the press does not pay for entry to tournaments. I will stick with that number for gas not knowing how much a gallon of gas will cost in 2010.

Don't mean to pile on, considering many folks must be working hard to get the word out. Is it also because of the change in venue that reporting of results has become so sporadic and disorganized?

For instance, I heard last night on TAR and from the front page here about the last 4 in the 1 pocket, but no word before that. Kind of wondered, say, how Efren got knocked out, just for starters.

Ah hah

Guess I should have been paying attention to who posted that.

I believe a guy named David Vaughn beat Efren at least one of his losses. David also beat another well known player whose name escapes me. I picked up a friend of mine to give him a ride home yesterday, and David had knocked him out of the one pocket also.

Reporting

The Texas reporting team would be more than happy to roll in and report on ALL aspects of the DCC.

We debuted at the Texas Open and it was pretty cool. We did play by play on numerous big name matches. Answered question quickly to forum people and gave results and updates in real time!!

We ALL played in the event and were all volunteer!! Some sponsorship would certainly be helpful.
