At dinner tonight my wife and I were chattin about the DCC and she sais, why don't you go yourself? She does'nt think she'd have fun after the first day of watching, and she knows I'm not going to sleep the whole time I'm there!:) Anyway, the plane is booked, room is set, and I just gotta figure out if I'm going to play in the 1pocket, or spectate and find some cheap action.

Any other AZ'ers going?....maybe we can meet up and play some...life is GOOD!....Gerry

Gerry,

If you plan on doing much spectating at the tournament, it's really better to play. I think it cost around $15-18 last year to watch each day ($6 morning sesion and $10 evening session). If you watch 3-4 days, that's 50-60 dollars. Why not pay the other $40 and shoot at them. Playing entitles you to free entry to watch the entire tournament. That's what I do.

I'll be there on the 13th & 14th. I'll be the big, good
looking guy with the mustache.

And I'll be the big good-looking guy without a mustache.

Ill probably be there the last 2 days.

Gerry you're lucky your wife is not going. It's kind of a crazy event for a woman unless she's a player. My woman wants to go with me this year and I warned her it was not quite like a WPBA tourney :)

And by the way, I'm coming in on the 10th and playing the 9 ball event.

Hopefully I’ll be able to stop in for a few days 12, 13, 14 something like that. Unfortunately I’ll miss getting in the one pocket I have enjoyed that in the past and I got this cool badge with my picture on it that says “Player”.

Mike - Your exactly right!

I am going for the whole thing (Jan 6 - 14th. That is $144 just watching. Have had my reservations (pool side) since April. I played in the One Pocket for $100 and didn't have to mess with any passes or anything. It was well worth it. When your there for the whole thing, you learn to relax and not feel as though your going to miss something. I sleep, swim, eat, play as though I'm on vacation. They show the TV table (live) in all the rooms. IT'S GREAT!

I'll be there to play the bank event and one pocket. If I do well in either one, I'll play the 9-ball event. I drew a lot of champions the last 2 years and I'm hoping to get a little easier start this year. I'd like to meet some of you guys too. Sam

Can't Wait!

I'll be there the 12th thru the 14th. there are some mini tournaments thru the week and usually there are one or two on the last Thurs. night. I won a mini there 2 yrs ago that paid nearly 5 bills. Not bad for 3 or 4 hours work. My wife and I don't have many pool related conversations unless it involves the F word. I figured I would just call her from Louisville and fill her in on the plans when I get there. (HA !) We need to agree on a meet and greet area and a time. Seems like most people will be there towards the end of the event. Somebody come up with a plan and start a thread.

I spoke with Greg Sullivan last Spring, and he seemed very gung-ho and seemed delighted to offer to get a separate table set up - JUST FOR AZB'ers. OHB said there was an AZB'er in Louisville who could coordinate this (so I didn't get involved); what's the status??? I didn't recognize the Louisville AZB'er as a frequent poster, but I assume he must lurk here.

Anyway, I was planning on arriving Wednesday and staying through Saturday. The pro I play with regularly is trying to insist that I play, but damn I love watching the champions (and the shortstops) play and gamble.
I owe OHB at least a drink or two; the rest of you will have to beat me out of one.

Came home today and the wife figured she wants to go because they have a pool!. I think it's great....We met in a pool room, so she "Gets" it when it comes to me playing or watching. I guess I'll enter the 1pocket and get the free pass for her. We need to set up a way to find all the other AZ'ers when we get there...Gerry

Well, I'm in!...I just signed up forthe 1pocket event.....This is going to be too much fun!....Gerry

You have my deepest condolences. ;)

Thanx man!.....but you know what, when she's around I play better. And honestly, without her there it would'nt be the same. She could care less if I gamble, sweat matches, and stay up all night. As long as we have fun........Gerry

Willie - The fellow I was talking about is Mike Maloney (semperfi). He has a cue booth (good deals) in the main hallway & is a friend of Greg's. He is a good man and always has a cold Bud Light for anyone. Greg has said there is no problem in us getting an extra room with a table but I wonder how much it might be used. I know I wouldn't want to restrict my matching up with just AZers. Hell, I want to beat everybody out of all cash.
Hey Willie, I'll take you up on that drink but I'm not a cheap drunk. I drink ice cold Bud with a shot of Drambuie. mmmmm, already had 3 tonight.
Maybe if we (AZers) were to all pick a place & time to meet & greet it would be best or I'll go along with anything decided and arranged. I'll be there for the Whole Enchilada.

Mike's receint post -
I talked to Greg a couple of weeks ago, and the AZBilliards room(s) is still on. What Greg proposed a while back was a private room with a 9' table about 40' from my booth / bar, #6 near the DCC office. The cost for the room and table set up would be $1,000.00. Greg also said he might have an adjacent hospitality room available for AZers...gratis. Scheduling and priority guidelines would be up to the contributors to establish. I would have the key when the room is not in use.

Has it been mentioned that the DCC will be utilizing both the Executive West and East this year? In the West, the rooms that had the 7' smart tables will instead have twelve 9' tables. Also, there will be another room opened up between the bar and the restaurant. This room will add 5 more 9' tables to the fold. That means seventeen more 9' tables in action this year. The Executive East will now be the setting for all 7' smart tables, and all league tournaments.

Ps. - What would everyone think about sharing this room$ & table with OnePocket.org members?

Thank God, my room is in the Executive West!

I am a member of both, but I am not very active at 1P.org. I am somewhat ambivalent to the suggestion. You might want to clear it with Mike and Greg, before you call for a vote.
