DCC One Pocket - final rounds

Are we really doing this?

I'm drinking at least 5 more 10% beers if these are the f'ing questions coming out of the derby.

Yes, if you make 8 balls before the other guy you win. If you bank 5 balls before the other guy you win.

And for the last time if you make a legal hit and the 9 ball goes in you f#$%*&@ win!!!

I'm not sure joe biden is stupid enough to not understand this. How in the F is this so hard at this point??? Is this the first year for derby? What? No??? The f you say

i guess it's not the most intuitive format. once you actually located the results link on the 1998-style website and scrolled your finger numb to even get to the one pocket, you get to see scores where it seems like one player played himself and the other ones played each other twice but in alphabetical order. i get it, nowadays, but it is funky.

I am confused and cannot find out what's going on with the One-Pocket event. If I understand correctly, there are three men left standing: Tony, Efren, and Hennessee. The finals are today at 1 p.m. Eastern. Though some are saying Hennessee got the buy, Scott Frost on his Facebook page said Tony got the bye. The tournament brackets are unintelligible, and I cannot navigate them to find out the answer.

jam
here is how i understand it
when it was efren /hennessee and tony ........ tony got the bye
after efren lost and hennessee won they had ANOTHER DRAW
they said since tony got the first bye he couldnt get the second bye
so apparently hennessee got the bye in the final draw
hope that makes sense
:)
your pic was from last night before the hennessee efren match

This format is the same one they have used for over 20 years. IMO it is the fairest way (other than a round robin).

Pretty easy to understand.

@JAM

Whenever there is an EVEN number of players in a round…no one sits out that round.

Whenever there is an ODD number of players in a round…one person doesn’t have a match that round…could even be the first round with 495 players.

With 3 players left…Efren, Tony and 3 finger John…someone sits out.

Tony sat out.

Efren and John played.

Efren lost and had a buyback.

So there are still 3 players in it…Efren, Tony and John.

Now Efren and Tony are going to play and John is sitting out.

Efren and Tony each have a loss so the loser is out and the winner plays in the final against John.

Scott meant bye for Tony in the round where Efren played Johnathen.
He also was correct when he says Efren / Johnathen are playing to get to the finals.
If Efren won, it would be Efren / Tony finals. As is, Johnathen won. He is in the finals.

In case you don't know, the easiest way to get to through the scores is to just hit cntl-F and then type 'one p' and it will take you right to the top of the list. At least the damn thing was kept fairly up to date this year. Last year might have been the worst yet.

Scott was incorrect. All 3 players have one loss each, thus no more “buy backs”. His other sentence was a grammatical error and should read Hennessy got the “bye” to the final. (If that’s true it was him I have no idea).

Hi Jam, I know what’s going on now. My prior post above was about today (sat). Scott’s post was about Fri night. In both cases the same 3 players were left. When Scott made that FB post Tony did get the bye into the next round, and Hennessee and efren were about to play each other. And efren was the only one of the three undefeated, so he did have a buy back option.

Hennessy did end up beating efren. Which brings us to Sat with the same three players left and all have one loss.

Henny can be a colossal tool but he is playing some great pool. Must be that may-oooo-chee he's wielding. ;)

There’s going to be no sleep for me apparently. The schedule is going late in the evening. From https://onsitepool.com/accustats/

The chart is messed up, Hennessy should have a 1 next to his name, he lost to Tony the second time they played.

All 3 have used their buyback, so it's win or go home.
