After a fifth place finish in banks, a really strong showing by Billy, who remains undefeated into one pocket round 8, will put him squarely in the hunt for Master of the Table.

no shot clock
no in rack ball count displayed and rare mention of it by commentators
Van Cortezza playing in ripped jeans - that should be a forfeit

The viewer friendliness of this Derby is suffering. It's always in the details.

PS Lee Van won about $9,000 at Darren's 8-ball event last week so he can afford a better pair of pants

I feel ya on the looking " presentable " thing, but keep in mind some jeans cost $800 and come ripped because it is supposed to be " cool ".

Compton 1 Thorpe 0. Rack one was a comedy of errors.

Compton to break in rack 2.
 
Rack 2 might take a while. Five balls each with five balls above the headstring.
 
With a phenomenal cut of the eleven ball from a mile away, Billy takes a 6-5 lead in rack two.
 
Compton makes 2 for a 7-6 lead in rack two but Billy answers with 1 so it's 7-7.
 
Thorpe leaves Compton cushion-hooked and Chip must take a foul, so Billy leads 7-6. Both of them playing well in the safety battle.
