There, I fixed what your profile will say, if MODS do this for you! :D

Have a good one Joe!

I don't understand why entire threads are deleted. The sutton thread was just removed. Hours of people's time were spent contributing to that thread. Why delete it? Why censor this information?
Not just the Sutton thread, but a thread I started back in february asking who a certain ebay member was because I was being threatened by him. The fine members of this community responded and said it was Marty Herman. The thread was deleted and because of that deletion, others may not be able to research who this character is based upon his ebay username.

Why do these things happen?

All 2125 of them?:eek::p;):thumbup:
Joe

LMAO you guys are great. I'm thankful for my friends on this site and couldn't imagine sabotaging those relationships or my reputation like some longterm users here so willingly have.

Controversy lowers hits and thus advertiser revenue. Don't kid yourself into believing anyone cares about protecting you from thieves. I ran into the same thing 5-6 years ago (as did many of us) with Painpool. We outed him, but the threads got shut down, basically allowing him to 'escape' and then later resurface multiple times to pad his pockets further. We have repeated this bit of history many times at AZ.

There are hundreds of cuemakers who use this forum, but the top-tier is very small. Use them or take your chances. There are plenty of good, safe cuemakers to satisfy your every need.

Covering up for people that can't take care of business properly reflects poorly on the Mods. No wonder I haven't been here in months.

Makes me wonder how long the Jim Lee thread will be there in the main forum section. It has been pretty civil so far.

Clearly, this site will protect it's sponsors more than it's users.

Had I known about Dave's other bad transactions I would have not ordered from him and therefore saved myself hundreds of dollars. It's definitely 'Buyer Beware' here.

As I sit here at work, writing this message from my cell phone, i have to say that I cannot say a bad thing about Joe here.. I haven't known him very long but to me, I can surley say he is one he'll of a guy and is full of integrity.. And I would not for one second hesitate to deal with Joe (jbravo)! Right now Joe is playing the middleman in helping me get my cue back that was lost after I sent it to be refinished in 2006, what a fiasco that was.. And I should have it as soon as I get out of work and I am extremly thankfull for that! -chris

Thanks chris. I'm glad I could be of assistance in reuniting you with your lost love :)

That was ugly but sure did open my eyes to some folks true colors. I know of other forums that stick a post to the top of their classified section with known scammers. Billiards has always had a "hustle" flavor to it and I do know quite a few players who I would not trust spotting them a $20 bill. Nature of the beast, I guess, but for a vendor to come out like that is way over the top. I guess having tenure around here does have it's benefits...

Actually, the problem as I see it is that AZ Billiards is poorly moderated for it's size. On other forums they have more moderators to handle the workload. Here it's just easier to delete and lock a thread rather than to cull the offending posts and posters.

Thus an awful lot of good content gets thrown away when a thread goes bad.

On other successful forums the mods are quick to shut down the types of posts and posters that lead to viscous flame wars. Maybe that's part of why they are successful.

I personally think that Mike could recruit some volunteers from the long time members who could and would moderate AZB properly. They could have new accounts and be anonymous. I believe that this would make AZ a much better place to be and would welcome back a lot of the good writers we have lost.

How about....

Or, get rid of the Wanted/For sale section all together.

If it can't be policed properly and the users can't defend themselves then the problems will just continue. This is probably one of, if not, thee highest volume sections of any of the pool related forums. And yet, it's like the wild west here.

Maybe people will learn how to play with their toys and share them nicely if they are taken away from them.

That sounds like the military mentality there...we have a couple of problems, so we will just punish everyone.

There is nothing "wrong" with the forum. Every now and then there is an issue, like the one some folks are going through with a couple of cuemakers, etc, but that is just a cross-section of the population in general. If you have hundreds/thousands of transactions, somewhere along the way, there are going to be issues.

It is not that people have problems during a transaction that makes things bad, it is how they chose to resolve it that matters.

I think often times folks "flame" a thread hoping that it will be pulled as a part of a strategy...maybe helping a buddy out, etc. It is that way with any argument/discussion.
Joe
