The # of pool players - Pros and semi pros - that act right is a very short list. The public puts up on a pedestal those that don't act right, so they will continue to do so.
If Dechaine was racking his opponents and I was one of them - I would have called over the tournament director before Dechaine readjusted the rack and showed him what Mike was doing. After the second time, I would put the tournament director on the spot and asked if he would be doing to correct this.

Since some of us here still don't get it. Mike beat SVB at the dirby when Shane was playing off of dippy dave's brake. This is a HUGE spot, in a relatively short race, to 25. He's beatin big names in tournaments, and gambled and won from the best with spots. He didn't really pound Hatch, and I'm pretty sure Hatch wouldn't shy away from the same match again.

Mike's an amazing player, I just don't think he has a clue how to properly rack. I watched him rack over and over at this tournament. He throws the triangle over the balls, push them to the spot, and quickly pulls the triangle off. Anyone who knows anything about giving a tight rack knows this is never the most efficient way to get one. There's so much that can happen by doing that. I would never, ever, trust someone to rack for me like that. At that level I can't believe he got away with it over and over.
If you go to the Turning Stone UStream channel, Dechaine and SVB are set to the default video. After the first rack, The tournament director or referee even comes over after Dechaine's inability to give a good rack after several tries. Dechaine throws his hands up in the air like he doesn't know what's going on, but it's clearly his own fault. If it's that difficult to get a good rack in a major tournament, my imagination can't help but feel things would be similar in other situations.
He also said something about how little he plays. I think he said once a week? You have to be a damn good player to play once a week and make it on the Mosconi team.

What I was saying about the rack is he knows how to manipulate the rack. Slug racking if you will. I saw last year he played Shaun Wilkie, (who by the way is the MOST stand up honest guy in the GAME!)
Shaun gave him fair perfect racks, and Mike hit him with a 4 pack to start. Then Rack 5, he didn’t make anything and he *****ed about the rack, wasn't true, it was just as good as the previous 4. Then Mike Racked for Shaun and he never made a ball on the break, Decahine won 9-7. I have seen it time and time again, in MANY different venues, from Florida, to SBE, Open, and TS. I have seen how Mike operates with this racking... It is his way of cheating and gaining an advantage, and not playing fair and honest. That is why raj made the comment he did. He knew he was slug racking him, the refs don't have the ability to see what the pros see; they think it’s a tight rack because the top three balls may be touching. That and the SPOT placement of the 1 ball, Mike always racks low on a Diamond and high on a Gold Crown, (might be vice versa but you get the point)
He is all around not a good person... Frankly I think he should be banned from pool, because he is just a poor sport, a jerk, a whine ass, a trouble maker, and a douche. No one in pool wants him representing their name, that's why he can't find a sponsor...
I meet him in 2009 after he won the World Cup of Pool, all he bragged about was Mika told him and others that he was the next big thing, and bragged about how Mika was scarred to play him etc... We were at the SBE 8 Ball in VF, June 2009; he was talking about sponsors etc... I really didn't know him that well at the time, but I talked to the head of a MAJOR cue company and pitched them sponsoring him (again I didn't really know him) and they laughed at me, saying the kid is a loud mouth and will never amount to a sponsor able player. (Meaning someone worth sponsoring)
Guys like Archer, SVB, Mika and others can actually sell cues and have fan bases, and LARGE fan bases, with Mike's attitude he will NEVER be sponsor able. He might have JOB at the APA, but he is an employee and that is about it, I DOUBT very much they would sponsor him and put their company reputation on the line for such a loose cannon.
When it is all said and done he will never about to ANYTHING. Guys like Archer, Mika will go down in history books, SVB when he is DONE playing will been the best there ever was! I'm not sure Efren would be the favorite right now playing Mike even 10 ball. I haved watched Mike several times in the last few years, and he is a top 8 American player right now. I would also guess he would be considered one of the tougher draws in tournaments right now also. How he is personally has nothiong to do with the speed he plays.

The thing that makes me laugh about people complaining about how he's arrogant and cocky is this. In every other major sport the superstars are the most cocky, arrogant people in their sport and the most beloved ones too. Lebron and Kobe are probably the two most arrogant, cocky guys in pro sports and they are probably the most popular too. Muhammad Ali was arguably the cockiest athlete of all time and he is one of the most popular athletes ever. I think you have to have a supreme confidence in yourself to be one of the best and that's what Mike has as I see it. He's not disrespectfully arrogant or cocky. Come on folks, chill out, the dude can play, he can play at a very high level, why bad mouth him because YOU don't like his demeanor?
