I don't give a crap if he is desperate or not and if you haven't meet him you have no room to talk. The dude is a TOOL, CRY BABY, SNAKE, AND LIAR. Nothing I love more in life is watching Dennis get his ass whooped my SVB or anyone for that matter. I hope he has his VISA status permatly revoked from the USA.

:thumbup: I agree. IMHO, I think Dennis is more of the victim here. The owner of the pool room knows a lot more than those who are quick to blame Dennis without hearing his side. The fact that he is saying that French is the one to blame speaks for itself. So what do they expect Dennis to do? Follow the terms of the "contract" for 10 years?

Dennis could say he doesnt want to be an accomplice of a crime. The Shane/Dennis match was full of false advertising($100K match) and French(his agent was behind it all). French said on stream that Dennis is putting up $25K of his own cash. Dennis could say in court he doesn't even have $25K cash. He could say French lied about the match and it is only a $20K match.

That could void the contract as the player doesn't want to be part of criminal activity. Saying the match is $100K to lure PPV's valuing over $500-1000 constitutes a felony.

A player's contract could be voided if the agent(his advisor: French) wants the player to be involved in an illegal scheme.
 
Good luck enforcing it outside of Illinois and if DO never steps foot in IL again :embarrassed2:

I was sort of thinking something along the same lines but I don't think people really associate pool rooms with that anymore and so many are family friendly these days and have been for a long time. That said, there are so many players, and spectators, that basically just live to gamble and hustle. Just read through the threads here.

It'll never be a legit sport because the players and fans see to it that the actual sport and entertainment are secondary to the gambling. C'est la vie. I wish it were different. There's probably even more gambling and side bets in chess, but they know enough to mostly keep it friendly and classy, and it's making a huge comeback thanks to some legitimate money flowing back in.

Anyhow, I'm new here and probably in the minority. I just hate seeing something I love get worse every year.
 
Not trying to be argumentative, but why does anybody on here care what financial dealings any of these players have with French or anybody else?

Sounds like a bunch of barracks lawyers drinking a few beers with nothing else to talk about.

Okay, I'll bite. We humans like to discuss things that we're interested in. In this case pool. Pool means anything involving pool, the tournaments, players, equipment, etc. This happens to be a very interesting topic and it just happens to involve many of us that that watched the matches and gambled on them.
 
Cher had a contract with Sonny.
And they were married.
What happened to that slave contract?
Usurious contracts aren't enforceable .
Never mind that French is not a licensed agent.

heard from everyone but him

guy has a bad rep as is and now this

talk about the fans and growing pool and people like me took days off work for it and purchased the stream i was close to flying to iowa to see a friend and have a drive up to watch last 2 days

totally shafted lots of people and room owner
 
The contract clearly looks generic & his poorly written. It would not stand up in a court unless the judge is a complete clown. However this nonsense belongs in a clown court as it is layered with stupidity from day 1.

Good or bad, I'm glad that they did. Allows us common folk to get a real good idea of what is going on and why the big match was really cancelled.
