Derby action - Frost / Richie Rich

I suppose the break is the bigger part of the spot
than the 9-8, but I'm no one pocket player. Richie
or someone must think he's got a pretty good shot
at it to put up 30K. I have no idea even though most
are saying Scott, but I guess we'll find out.

Frost is giving him 9-8 and the breAK for 30g, who you like ? I think I like frost.

Though Scott Frost is a One-Pocket machine, I like Richie Rich in this match-up for one reason. Richie plays daily, gets on there and battles, whether for games of stake or tournaments. He's in the best stroke of his capability. Scott, on the other hand, has not been playing every day and engaged in battles the way Richie is.

I will be interested to see who comes out on top. I think it's a good game for both, with Richie maybe having a slight edge because of him playing on a daily basis.

I recently heard a few days before the derby Scott was local n playing guys with huge spots to the point everyone was betting against him. Well Scott proceeds to demolish the locals n he said he's been playing 8 hours a day for months getting In top form

I heard Richie has played pool for money before, so I guess we will just have to trust him on this one.

Richie beat me loike a tom tom
gave me 3 hit and the pick
therefore if they play i will root for richie and even bet on him

then again.i am somewhat of a loser

I don't really play one pocket.. and not familiar with some of these terms
need some help

how do you get weight in one pocket? what is giving him 9-8 mean?

I know in 9 ball it would be the 8-9 wins the game for the less favorite player.

also what does 10 ahead mean...or any number ahead?

someone fill me in? :embarrassed2:

If you give 9-8 that means you have to make 9 balls before your opponent makes 8 in order to win the game.

10 ahead means the first player to be 10 games ahead on the overall score wins.

Thanks.

So does that mean 11-1 is a win. total of 12 games?

why do they choose to play "ahead" instead of a race for that game?

Thanks.

Yes, if someone goes up 11-1 playing 10 ahead then they win.

Playing an ahead set usually means that the better player (given the spot) is more likely to win. That is, if I'm giving you 9-8 and I've got the better of it then it's harder for you to beat me playing 7 ahead then it is for you to beat me in a race to 7.

It's just like playing by the game and moving the coin around the table and whoever gets up 10 games gets the cheez. Ahead instead of race incase anything stupid or crazy happens early on, also for a lot of cheez it lasts longer.
