Here's my Dream cue design: A Classic Balabushka.
I would only make a few changes to this cue:
White Straight Grained Maple Forearm with Black/Orange/Lime Green/Maple Veneers.
All Silver Ringwork, Front and Back, and
Black Elephant Wrap, for that "Modern Classic" touch!!!

... even if my design doesn't win, I've never done anything like this so it might become my new hobby just making designs for cues it seems to keeps me entertained.

1) Ivory 3/8x10 joint
2) black ring with silverring
3) cocobolo forearm
4) 4 ebony points with inlays, thicker ivory veneer, silver veneer, ebony veneer.
5) the inlays between the 4 points have an ebony inlay with ivory,silver and ebony venners also.
6) small black ring before the wrap
7) Irish linen wrap in black
8) black ring with a silver ring
9) cocobolo Buttsleeve with windows ( don´t know how many are possible)
again....ebony window with inlays, ivory silver and ebony veneers
10) silver line between the windows
11) black ring with silverring

Here is a concept that I have been working on for a while. Making a cue with the look of a classic wooden boat. Ebony, brass, mahogany etc. I have to scan some of my sketches to give a better idea.

I am not sure what my dream cue would be, but I have a rattlesnake hunting hobby and always wanted a snakewood cue. So....I thought this was kind of fun. It took some time to draw up, but here we go:
All brown is Snakewood
All white is Ivory
Ringwork is Sterling Silver
4 ivory points with black/light yellow/light blue/natural veneers (unless we can come up with a better color combo for the rattlesnake theme)
The wrap is a simulation of snakeskin, all the scales are outlined in sterling silver. Each scale would be an individual inlay of either ivory, snakewood, or ebony. It is in a diamondback pattern that would repeat around the handle. The points would either have an engraving/scrimshaw or inlayed sterling silver. I thought about doing more intricate inlays in the butt sleeve and points, but with the handle....it is already quite busy. I may change it up a little...or if I think of something else, I may switch it out.

I also wanted to thank Mr. Stroud for having this contest. Besides the fun of creating my own dream cue, I'm looking forward to seeing all the very cool and interesting designs that will get posted.
My cue design is an 8 pointer with the ebony points being high and low into a nicely figured curly maple forearm as shown. The remaining 4 extra long points are to be a nicely figured Brazilian rosewood as are the outer most windows on the butt of the cue. All the green in the cue is to be some beautiful striped malachite and all the white with the possible exception of the butt cap is to be ivory outlined in black only as drawn. The two drawing filled windows can either be inlaid with matching materials to those colors or scrimshawed to get the desired effect. I think scrimshawed might be the way to go but I've never seen something like this inlaid in a window so that might be an interesting challenge especially at minimizing the glue lines if that is done. I know the cue looks like the decorated windows go with the shorter points but I'm open to them being lined up with the longer ebony points if that makes more sense.
As for the rest of the specs.
3/8 x 10 flat bottom titanium or steel joint pin
Stainless steel wood to wood joint.
Two old growth shafts with Ivory Ferrules with black pads and moori mediums as well as matching rings.
Rings at all points including the segmented handle are silver then a thin black ring then short silver dashes with longer ivory dashes into a slightly thicker black phenolic ring then thin black and finally another silver ring.
58" long.
weight 19.00 to 19.5 ounces.
Balance Pt approx 19 to 19.5 for forward balance.
I would like the segmented handles sections wrapped in black linen or even better a soft buffalo leather. Haven't ever tried buffalo leather but thought that might fit with my Colorado theme and I've heard it feels really nice.
On the license plate drawing the month and year are significant to me as that was when I left Colorado to be around the rest of my family. I was also spared that month from the 9/11 tragedy by the cancellation of a meeting I was to be involved in at the north Tower two days before the towers fell. I count myself very lucky and that's the second reason those numbers are important to be on my design.

My Dream Cue!
Here is a detailed view of what is shown in the cue. This design will wrap around the cue at ring points A and C as shown.
Here it is! Here it is! I created about 10 different ring styles, but i think this simple style fits the cue perfectly!
I have had this idea in my head for almost a year, it feels so good to actually see it!

I like them both. Have you tried something with more detail or even curves.

Inlay in Points. Ivory Diamonds with malachite tiffany diamonds and 2 ivory dots below and 1 dot above the diamond.
Rings: Bushka ring above the wrap and stitch rings at all other locations. (a,b, d and e.)
Wrap: elephant
Butt: Ebony with 4 Ebony windows with mitered veneers (same as points). Ivory diamonds with malachite tiffany diamonds and 4 dots in each window.
Between each window a malachite barbell.
Ivory Butt cap.
