Do they make shafts, I've never heard of them?

There's a local dealer here that I happened to wander into to kill some time, and I was just browsing when a salesman approched me. Since all I saw were Olhausen tables, I thought I'd ask why they didn't have a nice Diamond out... and he had never heard of them. I had to pull them up on his computer to show him. He had also never heard of Predator Cues. He said he played pool when I asked, and pretty avidly.

I was just blown away.

I think they're the best out there. For those who agree with me, why do you prefer Diamonds over any other table?

I think most people selling pool tables probably don't know much about pool. I wouldn't have been shocked at all. Salesmen just learn the product they're selling and that's all they care about. GOOD salesmen know the competitors products as well, but ...

Still looking for 1 to 6 7ft. diamond pro-am tables within 300 miles of nashville tennessee. If you know of any call 615-683-6346 ask for Mike.

Diamond makes a wood table, they have leather pockets and inch and a quarter slate on their pro tables. I love Brunswick gold crowns also, their tables are made (at least on the surface) of a wood grained Formica type material and metal and plastic pockets. The Diamonds msrp is much lower on their tables and they are all American made. these are a few reasons that I ordered a Diamond rather then the gold crown. I still love the looks of the Brunswick's and someday maybe I will have one of each:D One other thing is gold crowns do have large pockets and it wasn't until the gold crown v was released did they offer tighter pockets, and that table is pushing 9,000 frog skins.:(

LOLOLOL...hahahahaha...hohohoho...good luck finding them used:D They're just not out there, trust me. You'd be better off trying to make a deal with Brian for 6 of the booth used ProAms from the Valley Forge expo than you are looking to buy them used. There is not enough of them built to create a used table market.

not surprised at all

Retail stores don't usually pay much attention to the avid players. Poolplayers are dealseakers, for the most part, and a brick-and-mortar can't compete with internet prices. They also aren't hiring poolplayers to sell their junk. Would a store want YOU (AZ members) to tell their customers that what they are looking at is overpriced junk and they should try Nielsen's? Also, that salesman isn't well paid, hasn't been there long, and didn't know anything at all about pool before he took that job. You increased his knowledge base 20% when you showed him the Diamond Billiards website.

Seperately, does Diamond work with retail stores? I haven't heard of any stores that sell their tables. Doesn't everyone buy theirs from Diamond or from guys like RKC? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I made comment to this subject a long time ago. Any retail store should be aware of the Diamond tables, at least as a saving pitch to stop a customer from walking out the store buying nothing. I said that they all should at least contact Diamond to arrange some kind of commission for selling their pool tables, that don't mean they have to have one on the show room floor, but they should at least be aware of them. If I worked in sales, at the very least...if I had a customer walking out the store because they didn't see any of my tables they wanted to buy, I'd ask them if they'd like to see something on the Diamond tables to at least catch their interest, then I'd pull out the Diamond paperwork and go to town. Once I had it, I'd sell them a Diamond, then I'd at least make a commission on the sale, plus delivery and set up...beats a zero for the day.:D

Good idea. Is anybody doing it? Is Diamond even interested in this? If I were Diamond I'd be a little worried about letting retail store hacks install my stuff.

Yeah, a couple of stores are, but not many. Diamond would work with any retail store as far as a sales commission goes, but can't afford to drop the wholesale price to the liking of the retail stores, that's why Diamond sells direct to the customer. As far as hacks setting up the Diamond tables...that's going to happen either when the tables get delivered, or when they get recovered. That's why I spend so much time on the road, buyers would rather wait on me to deliver and set up their table, as opposed to someone else that has no idea as to how to deal with a Diamond table. But, I'm only one person, and I work for the most part 365 days a year, and it's getting harder and harder to keep up with the deliveries, that's why I live in the back end of my box truck, so I can always be on the job so to speak:D

RealKingCobra-Glen I was wondering if you plan on coming up to Edmonton, AB do deliver my table whenever it's built?! Pleeeassse :D

I was hoping whoever delivers up to Canada wouldn't be a hack but your previous post doesn't instill much confidence for me.

Realkingcobra (Glen H.) just delivered my Diamond Pro-Am table yesterday. And today he installed the Diamond light over it. The man is a great mechanic (and he can play a little too).

The set-up is the TRIPLE NUTS!!! I absolutely love it! Probably the best set-up I ever had in my home. The only one I liked nearly as much was the Sport King Ernesto set-up for me in Chatsworth years ago.

This may well be the best table you can buy today! IMHO. I'm a happy camper right now. I've almost gotten over the sting of the "Rodney" match. I had to help my daughter out today and take my 4 year old grand daughter to the docter. Meanwhile Glen was laboring away hanging my light.

When I got home, it was like Christmas. He was gone but the table sat there in my darkened living room, with the overhead light on. I felt like a virgin about to have a brand new experience.

I think I may actually start playing regularly again. It's been three long years since I really felt like playing, but now I do.

Thanks to Glen and to Chad and Greg at Diamond. They were all great to deal with.

P.S. It's a beautiful table. The diamond wood is really stunning.

Could've been worse.

"You got any Diamond tables?"

"Nah, all ours are the rectangle-shaped ones."

I made sure to shut all the lights in the house off, just to give you that christmas effect when you got home:D It sure was bright in there when I left...LOL bright enough to be able to see the balls the next time I play you, instead of that teaser light setup you had over the table when we first played:p

See what I mean, everybody automatically woofs at me. :)
Get in line Glen. The line stretches down the block. You'll have to take a number. Your number should come up next time you make it to L.A. :D

P.S. Hope you get that new truck. I should have given you that can of starter fluid.

what!?!?!! NO picture? :D

He sure is a good salesman. He probably has never heard of Simonis or Master Chalk either.

I actually prefer a good condition Brunswick GC 1/2s over any table. Diamonds are my next favorite, followed by Kim Steele and Gabriels. Olhausen rates below Gandy Big Gs imo and they are at the bottom of the list, excluding BS tables like sears or some other cardboard jobbie.

Diamonds play real consistent, I like how their pockets are flush with the table and the deep shelf makes for a tough table, especially if the pockets are 4.5 or smaller. The construction of a Diamond is top notch and I also like the different woods I have seen them made in. A few years back, like 99 or 2000 maybe the feature table for accustats was this unreal Cocobolo Diamond. I remember the announcers talking about how Greg Sullivan had said the table cost a ridiculous amount to make, and how they probably would never do that kind of job again. It was a real beauty though and I wonder who owns it now. I was so tempted to move some money that January and make a play for it, but I had just moved and the ol BR had already taken a beat down so I passed. I still think about that table on occasion.

As for not hearing about the diamond tables ,the dealer is in the dark ages.Diamonds are my table of preference. As for the predatore cues, imho they s@@k,the shafts are fine but the cues are garbage and for what you spend on them you can get a nice custom cue.
