Glenn, this is not a true statement. Many, many player hate the way diamonds play. I am one of those. This discussion has been had. The diamond table in ALL forms changes the game. There are a many lame people that jump on the what’s got band wagon having no idea what is good and what is not. These are the same ass monkeys that swear by low deflection cues on a 7’ tables and walk around with cue extensions.

The only thing I can say positive about a diamond table is that it favors a slow rolling player and is best suited for 1 pocket which has gained a lot of popularity. I understand why a diamond is favored for 1 pocket and I will bet when they asked player their opinions when building the diamond line they were 1 pocket player. That table has not made pool a better sport. It has ruined it.

Glenn, the ones that don’t comment on the diamonds are the sheep that follow. They bought them and installed them but, they have no idea why they like them. They are the fashion victims of the pool society. Sorry, they may be made in America and they may be made solid but they play and look like shit.

I have no problems when it comes to playing on a Diamond table, if it's the blue label. But in my opinion the single biggest game changer for me in the last 30 years is not the tables, its the woolen cloth industry because NO pool tables play the same as they use to play. I think you all are blaming Diamond instead of questioning the changes brought on by the cloth industry!!

The only thing I have ever butted heads with you since we both joined AZB a decade ago is the way the balls react off diamond rails. Nothing else. Not a single thing. I'd wager with Joey it is the same. Its such a passionate issue to every one of us. You completely dismiss us as morons for saying it sucks the way the balls come off the diamond rails. (Red AND Blue)

Now, since corner and side pockets CAN'T change their own miter angles and down angles from how they were factory built...WHY does EVERYONE know that balls going in easy at first...have no way in hell of going in once te cloth breaks in? What changed?

And I'm telling you point blank, change the worsted woolen cloth to a woven woolen cloth and the entire table changes how it plays!!! Ever played on a Diamond with a woven woolen cloth??????

Hell, a 1961 GC1 in mint condition today, with a worsted woolen cloth installed on it WOULDN'T play the way it did throughout the 60's! Why NOT???

I don't care what diffenrce that makes. You take a GC, with new 760, 860, or 860 HR, and test it. Then test it again in 2 weeks when broken in. Then test it again at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years (all commercial settings), and the way it banks is predictable and feels right.

Repeat the same with a Diamond red or blue, and it will be all over the place. It won't only change over time, but it won't be anywhere near a GC.

You used to recommend (or maybe it was John Schmidt, I forget) when the Diamond Red was still out for people to make sure the balls were freshly polished, so they wouldn't climb up the rail, and the polish would help them play better (and closer to a GC).

That's so funny, I'm finishing up making a deal to take 9 GC3s on trade-in....and REPLACING them with 9 Diamond 9ft ProAms, but I'm sure EVERYONE is as skilled as you are at comparing pool tables....oh wait, the PLAYERS at the pool room requested this deal, but what the hell would THEY know, right?....LMAO

Ps, i guess your opinion don't mean much in the REAL world of all things pool!!!

Glenn they don’t know any better. Have the owner buy GCVI. They won’t. They cost too much. Or even GCV. It’s a cheaper table and for room owners that’s what matters. The players....they are sheep. That’s all I can say.

Well, i have a better idea. Why don't ALL the Diamond critics get together, and instead of telling everyone who's ever bought a Diamond table up to date, that they're all sheep....design a better table than a Diamond, snd prove to them they don't know what the hell they're doing, now that shouldn't be to much of a challenge for all you experts....right?

The problem could also be, the few that refuse to accept change, and feel their voice speaks for all those no saying a word otherwise, because they already spoke how they feel....they bought Diamonds. The so few that refuse to accept change, are left behind even by those they feel they represent, table manufactures as well, and yet, none of you critics are in the elite of players, earning a living playing this game, why is that?....are they sheep as well???

My guess is that you've never been a room owner, because what really matters....is what drives the customers, or sheep as you'd like to refer to them. And if Diamonds are the tables the customers want, and the sheep are paying for them....is it really a smart thing to buy something the sheep DON'T want, so the owner can tell them...."i read on AZB that you SHEEP don't know shit from shinola, so i.I'm NOT buying the pool tables you want, instead I'm going to buy Brunswick's....same tables they're REPLACING!!!

Diamond builds a fantastic product. They are well built tables, with a lot of great aspects about them. Diamond is a company that cares about the products that they build, and they support large tournaments.

However, the Artemis rubber is installed upside-down, which causes them to bank short. Regardless of that aspect, the tables are still quite nice, for a number of reasons. Because they are such nice tables, players will adapt to them, and disregard the known banking flaw.

There are a number of high-level pro players that absolutely hate the way that Diamond tables bank. I will not name them here, as it is not my place to do so. However, a number of them have voiced their opinion on Facebook, of the Diamond rail issues. Fact is, these same pro players win events on Diamond tables. Still doesn't mean they like the way the table plays..

Your rationale is flawed.
