Did Darren Appleton foul on the 5? - Accustats 2017 8B Make it Happen

Looks like he called a foul on himself and it was determined he didn't foul, looks to me like the 5 does in fact move?

EDIT: Here's the original shot but you can't see the foul there, I suppose you could if you went frame by frame.

1:37ish... I think... that's around where it started for me. I didn't see a foul in the little bit I just saw, and JJ said he thinks he touched it with his shirt but I didn't see that either...

What time in the match did this foul happen?

The foul happened at 1:37:10 but I linked it to the slow motion review because that's when you can see it. On my phone and without my glasses I can't see it but on my TV at home and my PC at work, with glasses on, the 5 ball definitely moves. If you watch the 5 it rotates ever so slightly and you can see Darren lift his cue when he notices it.

My original link started right at the review, I've changed that and added the original shot.

There's about 4 minutes between original shot and the slo-mo review.

No.

He runs over the top of the 5 ever so slightly, but I see it move and then roll back into place.

Oddly, speeding the video up helps see the minute rotation.

I'm not a big Darren Appleton fan, but I appreciate him having Ken look at it. I just wonder why he asked him to review it. In my mind, the only reason he asks is because he felt it. If he felt it, it happened.

I see the cue being lifted in the reflection off the 5 ball. I don't see the 5 move.

But I'm watching on a 5.5" screen without zoom.

The ball does not technically move locations, it simply rotates forward, ever so slightly, then settles back into place. We're talking fractions of a fraction, but it does happen.

I didn't see a foul. Darren used to post on this website and I enjoyed his input. He plays almost exclusively with an open bridge except when bridging off the rail. Great draw stroke on the 11 to get on the 8. That's not an easy shot.

And even under cb only fouls rules, mover should not be replacing the ball.

But let's talk about the hill-hill out. Holy phuck!

No kidding, he got lucky on the 3 but there's no doubt he still earned the win.

At 1:47:15 would anyone here have looked at jacking up pocketing the 6 and drawing back into the 1 or 11? He's a lefty so, IMHO, it wouldn't have been a difficult shot and is probably the shot I would've taken, because from there you can get the 7, then 2 in left side. If you didn't fall on the 1 you could play 7, 2, 1, 8. I like close quarters combat and that 6, 1, 7, and 2 could've been pocketed from shooting in that little quadrant between the 1st and 2nd diamonds on the left side of the table.

That being said, he is on TV and I'm not :)

Oh man.... First, the ball moved. I can see it at half speed. 1/4 speed is too slow to pick it up. That said, as commented earlier, the ball moves only enough to allow the fibers of the cloth to push it back into place.

The comments above smell as though some feel Darren pulled a move here. How much attention do you think he was putting on the possible feedback on his shaft from a ball that he wasn't shooting at...? Also note, that the clip on the 5 was within minute fractions of a sec of the CB strike. No one called a foul. He had already "gotten away with it", so what possible reason would he draw attention to this potential foul..? I say potential because even after the review that Darren requested they called it good.

The man was unsure enough to voluntarily throw himself on the sword, and for some reason he's being questioned as to how far the sword cut into his belly.

I pointed out a blatant non-call double hit by SVB in a YouTube video that you could literally hear in the audio, and I was roasted for suggesting that he pulled a move. Incredible...

He called it because it was the right thing to do, he earns my respect for calling it, he's good in my book.

I'm not sure which shot you're referring to with SVB but I do remember seeing the video where he didn't get the bridge out of the way fast enough and keeps on playing. No way he didn't feel that.

I think that's the difference between win at all costs and win with dignity, I would rather lose gracefully than win at all costs ;)

Right on... It seemed like a Darren lynching party was starting to form. I'm glad I'm wrong.... (y)

Yep that's the one.... Saw it on the Billiard Network channel. Most of the replies to my comments were that because of a active ref, Shane had no obligation to call it on himself. Which I guess is true.... but still.

Right on... The game needs more of this.

RE SVB: active ref or no active ref, it was a slime-ball move IF he knew about it, but there's no way he didn't ;)
