Did Team Taiwan Dump?

Huge upset or did they dump for some cash???

I don't think so because, IMHO, their culture is not as morally corrupt as other parts of the world.

If they did they are much better off getting paid in yen or euro's based on the current value of our cash.

If you have some evidence suggesting this was a dump, please provide it. Otherwise, your implication is that any major upset must be examined as a possible dump, and if that's your view of pool, it is truly sad.

Rigged games in pool? Hey, the NBA maybe, with a ref caught red handed. But never pool! Say it ain't so!

Are you serious? Let's just back up for ONE SECOND and remember that EVERY PLAYER in this event is a WORLD CLASS player. The event is scotch doubles which is NOT what these players play on a daily basis. It is a race to 8 which any team in this field is capable of winning any given one against any other team.

Of course they did not dump, that is insane. Absolutely forgetting the fact that they are playing for honor and country and the accolades and REAL sponsorships that await them in Taiwan if they win, there is the question of who would they possibly be in collusion WITH?

I mean come on, you have 32 teams from all over the world, do you think the Taiwanese Triad has some bets down against the Taiwan team??? Are they being coerced by shady Europeans???

Wait, it's Pakners!!!!! Someone is playing out the movie in real life and Wu's girlfriend is being held hostage somewhere.

:-) The only DUMP is the original question.

John and others...I don't smell a dump here. For just the reasons John mentioned. That said, any game people play can, and has, been rigged. The recent NBA scandal leaves me not wanting to bet on anything....

I guess I just don't get it. Why would you even think this. Do you also think the US team dumped? Their lose was a hugh upset too.

IMHO, in todays sad world of pool, any talk of dumping, dogging, or whatever behind the scene deals going on during a world class event is thinkable almost ONLY when American players are involved.
Before ya'll jump all over me, don't take this as a cheap shot at American players........................it's more of a cheap shot at the industry. I may be out of the know, and may have much to learn, but only on the US pool scene can dumping the chance at taking a major title lead to more promising financial rewards in the end. I'm sure it doesn't happen most of the time, but I would bet that it can and does happen, and most likely only with American players. There's just not enough to be gained by winning a major from an American players point of view. On the other hand, from the point of view of players from other countries, winning a major event leads to much more than not winning it.
Especially with the Asian players where the players are respected as the world class athletes that they are by the every day average person that has never held a pool cue.
Example: Pull a kid off the street in Manila and ask him if he knows who Efren Reyes is. Then pull a kid off the street in the US and ask him if he knows who Johnny Archer is.

I know both of the Taiwan players and I am SURE they would not and did not dump the match.

They would love to have the money and they are playing for the honor of the country.

Why aren't you asking if Corey and Rodney dumped or some of the other teams that got "upset"?

good argument, was about to point out the same thing !

stupid question tbh, but as touched on given the state of pool in america it's somewhat understandable why you could think this.

Not everyone is

corrupt as you seem to think. I think the original question is way off base.

I don't believe that Wu and Yang would EVER dump. Too much of their identity is wrapped up in how well they play. They would not trade the aura that they have both earned with so much hard work for mere trinkets, doodads or baubles. No way in this world ever would they even consider it.

I think of all the players over the world, the Taiwanese have the most pride in where they are now on the world scene. They would never do anything to tarnish that image.

As a side note, I also agree with Tokyo Dave's opinion.

the belgium boys finally get a chance to prove themselve at a high level, and aalready dumping has been named?

im not sure if u folowed the matches...

belgium is a neightbour country to holland, and many belgium players including serge play in the holland competition as there level is higher. once the dutch where out, 80% of the crowd are either dutch or from belgium, you have the whole crowd chearring our boys up. having the crowd behind you is a BIG advantage.

for das and noel this is an amazing chance, and they probably want it HARDER and MORE then any player out there, seeing that they didnt get invited in the first place, there is the mental part behind it, and any real poolplayer knows that the mental game is 50% or more of pool.

ps our guys did 4 B&R's in there match vs taiwan in 8 frames. thats 50%B&R %. now tell me... do you really thing it was dumped?

 these posts makes solly mad.
