Differant cue-maker pin sizes

I thought this might be interesting lets go with with odd sizes only!

I would also be interested in what advantages people think one screw may have over another. For example why would a person prefer a 5/16 x14 over an 18? The finer thread has a better and more secure closing then a courser thread but few cue makers use them, why?
I think most just copy what ever seems popular without any real reason. I think the radial pin may be the only one I feel is innovative and may actually be better for various reasons in a "screw into wood joint".

3/8 radial/ball.
.370" by 1 alignment barrel.
.365" by 1/2 undesized radial bottom threads.
Glue channel.

..........
Brass, copper and titanium pls.

it would seem any pin where all point touch the wood should make a good hit
on an insert in the shaft i dont think 14 or 18 make any hit differance once srewed together my all time favorite is the 3/8-11 brass pin then 5/16-14 then 3/8-10 never been a fan of the radial pin

in my post i was looking for odd size pins that cue makers use thanks

I think the Radial Pin (tm) is the best pin on the market. I also think that for someone who sells pins to be the one to review them is an obvious conflict of interest. If you made the Radial Pin (tm) you might like them.

i am not reviewing pins... just asking some questions i am really looking for odd pin and thread sizes that what the post was was all about.

pins

Are you talking about 3/8 x 8 verses 3/8 x 8 1/2 . The only advantage is " nobody works on my crap but me. And I don't build j/ps" I run into this quite often . Weird pin that have no advantage. I have to tell the people if they want j/ps for that cue get the cue maker to do it, most don't want be bothered. Just my opinion and I'm sticken to it. Jim:thumbup:

i think lee means the pins makers use that are odd like wes hunters 3x8-8 or mike benders 3x8-14

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT ALSO!!!!! tHEY USE A WEIRD THREAD SO NO ONE CAN WORK ON THERE STUFF BUT tHEM. iF YOU NEED THE STCK OR SHAFT WORKED YOU MUST SEND IT TO THEM . ...I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT BUY A CUE WITH A BASTARD THREAD. JIM

yes you hit the nail on the head dave ....bender blood worth other that use odd thread sizes in the past i have been asked for maintenance kits for these cues so i am looking at the possibility of making a few more sizes of the maintenance kits thanks lee
