it would seem any pin where all point touch the wood should make a good hit
on an insert in the shaft i dont think 14 or 18 make any hit differance once srewed together my all time favorite is the 3/8-11 brass pin then 5/16-14 then 3/8-10 never been a fan of the radial pin

i think lee means the pins makers use that are odd like wes hunters 3x8-8 or mike benders 3x8-14
my edwin reyes cue uses a 3/8x9 radial..anyone else have that pin type?
