is there a big differnce between ld shafts.
314
tiger
ob
any others?

i bought a 314-2 a year and a half ago. loved the accuracy on hard shots since day one. but just starting to feel the touch shots now.

ive only played a couple games with a tiger shaft. thought it had a softer hit then the 314-2. wasnt sure if it had more defection than the 314-2.

I believe this point is the difference in our CA$H CUES LD Ferrule-less shafts and the others. Because of our shaft's solid Maple construction, you get even more feel and feedback, and the touch shots come a lot easier.

Hangemhigh,

The 314 is a pretty hard hitting shaft. It is very low deflection or squirt, as are our OB shafts.

Where we are different is in the feel and control. The OB Shafts take many steps to provide a solid, quiet consistent hit. They spin the ball a little easier, which lets you move closer to the center of the cue ball to get the same amount of spin.

Oh, yea, we are made in the USA!

Hey Royce,

I agree, it takes many steps to achieve the exact hit you are looking for in a LD shaft. We went through a lengthy trial and error process before we hit upon the right combination, and our efforts were rewarded.

OB vs predator

I've had a 314 2 and a z2. I wanted to get another z2 and tried the OB2. I agree the OB does have better feel. It doesn't have the slick finish that the predator does so it slides a bit more natural.

I can count at least 5 diffrent predator ld shafts That I have personally seen break or fail in some way. I have seen the ferrule colapse in to the wood of the shaft, the shfat gave way to the ferrule as if hitting was to much stress on the wood! I think the main reason for the failures is that predator makes there shaft hollw for several inches at the ferrule down which reduces its overall strength. I have been playing with an OB1 for over 4 years now and love it. Earl Strickland is the only person I have ever HEARD of that says anything bad about OB cues. Plus the service Royce provides is unparalleled.

Bear with my ignorance but, if your ld shaft is solid maple and has no ferrule, I fail to comprehend the "magic". Given the above, I believe deflection will simply vary with the tip diameter. But since you're now talking about the "hit", it sounds to me like you are proud of your "unique" taper, like all cue makers.

I invite you to give our shaft a test drive at the Midwest Cue Show this Saturday, and see for yourself if it has the "magic" you reference. I can also direct you to this thread, where those that have tried our shaft give their unbiased opinions of our shaft. You can also PM me with any questions, or post them here. Thanks for your comments, and I hope in the near future you will be able to share your opinion of our shaft via first hand knowledge.

LD SHAFT TEST from Platinum Billiards

The Platinum Billiard site no longer exists, the link below is from the WAY BACK MAchine. if you can access it it explains how they did tests on all the shafts they sell approximately 20-30 different brands of after market shafts. It's the best source that shows comparative deflection between shafts of all kind. The site also does chalk comparison etc...
