Dirty balls

No, it's the pool room's
I'd wager someone accidentally spilled something in the unit causing the black marks. There is nothing in the design of the unit or the materials used that come in contact with the balls to cause those marks. If there were, you wouldn't be the first one posting something like this in all the years the unit has been on the market.

I know its not the Diamond. I guess the carpet inside needs to be cleaned. Maybe the Maguire's is gumming up the carpet. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before.

Regarding ALL ball cleaners including the much touted Diamond... EVERY time you use it, you leave dirt and residue from cleaning behind. These machines must be maintained and the cleaning surfaces either cleaned or replaced on a regular basis. If you do that, they should all do a very good job.

Replace/wash the liner(s). something got on them that shouldn't have.

never had a problem with my bludworth cleaner
just sayin
Agreed, as long as you keep your fingers on the tray anytime the machine is running! If you are counting on their pitiful excuse for a safety latch to keep the lid from popping up, it’s just a matter of time and until you have an incident.

This is a fairly easy fix. You simply lift out the rotating impeller straight up to reveal the cleaning pad beneath. Take out the cleaning pad and throw it in the washing machine or hand clean in the sink with soap and water with a very thorough rinse and let it dry. Put it back in the machine with the cleanest side up. Clean the impeller with soap and water and rinse thoroughly and dry before reinstalling.

Also, remove and wipe down the outer rubber wall. It also should just lift right out. Clean it with warm soap and water and dry.

Finally, and likely the biggest part of the problem, remove the cleaning pad from the side wall, and either clean or replace it. It probably needs to be replaced. They are about $20.00 online.

Reassemble and your Ballstar is now as good as new.

Thanks. When I get a chance I’ll give it a cleaning

I'm so sorry. I misread your post and gave you the instructions for a Ballstar machine. Not a Diamond. On the diamond there is nothing to do but replace the side carpet, the platter pad underneath and the sprocket. All three are about $70 at Manning or PoolDawg or Seyberts. I apologize for the confusion.
