Discuss Bustamante vs SVB

The first time they matched up, Francisco won a race to 23 (I think it was 23-19 but I haven't watched it in a while, maybe it was 17). Bustamante really out broke Shane in that match. He had more looks at the one and really just played better all around. That match was kind of strange though. They were both playing really bad and someone pulled the fire alarm. When everyone was let back in, it was like two different guys and they were getting out from everywhere.

This is true but if I remember right Shane had played all day in the Tournament and Busty had been resting, SVB played Archer twice, Ralf once and then Lee Van in the finals, After it was over we went up stairs and thats when the buzz was going around that they were set to play, Busty was practicing but Shane went to his room to change, I'm not making an excuse for Shane losing because Busty can beat anyone in the world, just think Shane might have been a little tired when they played, and I think Busty was one of the seven that Shane beat his last trip over there, Should be one the best TAR matches yet, can't wait!!!

Busta!

Love SVB.., but this is the one guy that he cant out break or out shoot or out kick...., he might win but he has no advantage and is way behind on gambling and experience..., i wouldnt want to bet my money....,

but I'll bet yours and take Busta!

That's great that they will be matching up. I'll certainly watch that. I respect SVB's game a lot, but I'm a bigger fan of Bustie. I think SVB should be favored a slight bit though due to age

I like it. Two nice guys who everyone seems to respect who both play the game absolutely lights out. Good choice, TAR.

If they play for twenty K I like Shane, if they play for 50K I like Francisco.

It's the other way around for me.

I like Shane's end even better if they were to play for 50K's, even though it's really close.

For 5K's in the middle, I don't think we are getting the best of either guy.

No matter the equipment, no matter the race length, and no matter the size of the bet, if the one ball is being racked on the spot, I like Shane over Bustamante. As Earl demonstrated, you can slow Shane down a bit if you, instead, rack the money ball on the spot.

The cream rises to the top, and right now, when it comes to ten ball, Shane is the cream.

No disrespect to one of the living legends of the game, but Bustie's easier to beat than Alex right now, and Shane was clearly the better man than Alex on the same table in their recent matchup.

My guess is that Bustie will not win a set. Shane is just too strong right now.

I like SVB because its 10 ball. I think it will end up like the last Alex match where Alex shot just as good if not better than SVB, but couldn't out run SVB's break. If it were 9 ball, I would like Bustamante because SVB doesn't have a huge advantage in the break department.

as someone pointed out earlier....Fransisco threw down a 7 or 8 pack in the Fatboy challenge (10 ball) at this years' Derby!! He's FAR from "past his prime"! On the TAR table though; I still think I'd take Shane. Should be a GREAT match up.

With no disrespect towards Alex, I don't think it's fair to compare his break with Francisco's. Before the buzz around Shane's break, we were all talking about Busty's. He is not someone I would bet on breaking dry, 9 or 10 ball.

I think it's going to be very close. It might come down to who can make a small run to create distance in each set.

Just out of curiosity, why has TAR been moving away from the long race format such as a race to 100? Is it player preference or for better viewership on the later days?

On a side note, I hope that Bustie's presence in the US in the second week of January means he's headed for Derby City in the third week of January. It stands to reason, doesn't it?

Francisco does have a good break, in fact, it is likely faster than SVB, but the key to SVB's break is control and consistency. Shane's ability to break, make several balls and get a shot on the one is incredible, leading to a much higher break and run percentage than pretty much anyone else. I don't think anyone save Ko Pin Yi can even compete with SVB on the break.

I apologize if I came off as saying Busty's break surpasses Shane's. I know Shane's got the 10B break down to a tee. I was merely trying to note the separation between Alex and Francisco's breaks.

shane vs. busty is awesome but if Justin could get orcollo to match up with shane for TAR i'd literally piss my pants!

I know this was yrs back, but didn't Francisco play Archer sets and run an eleven or thirteen and out and Johnny racked em up and played another set.

JA ran the set out in a race to 13...Busty jumped out of his chair and asked to play again and double the bet..JA would not double but they kept playing and Busty ended up beating him...I have the table at this time and it is signed by both players. However, under Busty's name is "winner"!!! At least this is the story I have always heard.
