Dissapointed with GCIII Recover, your thoughts please...

Thanks fellas, I really appreciate your feedback. I should have done my research again before proceeding. While I did want to give him the chance to make things right, I decided to cancel the appt and he prorated my balance.

I got in contact in contact with Jerimy Chambers and he will be redoing the rails.

Those guys messed that table up. I would not have paid them and would want a HUGE refund.

Jerimy will you do you right.

He just did my GC1 in November.
Replaced original monarch cushions with Black Diamond, cut and modified rails so they'd fit right, installed Simonis 860, and all materials for less than you originally paid those guys. He also did not take a penny from me, even though I offered a deposit, until he was done and we played a game on it.

I plan to use Jerimy for all my future mechanic work.

When are you coming down to Texas? I need to have everything you
mentioned done to my Sports King. No qualified mechanics in south TEXAS.
Appreciate a response, RKC.

Thanks,
BC

Just courious' when you said cut&modifiy the rails I was wondering what you ment? I did not know that there is a mechinic in the chicago area with jigs and tooling to calibrate/blueprint rails to specs. Or was the top of the subrail just cut or sanded out to fit the cushion flush? The subrail wood will need to be cut off and then replaced with new rail wood, then cut the bevel for new cushions.
Here a few pics of RKC's work on rails and one of the techniques. It's no simple task when done properly

If your looking to get your Sport King rails done correctly........ship them to me....my works not cheap.......but I'm sure you'll like the job when you get them back.
At least if you have the rails done right....even a half good job on the table set-up...will help the play of the table.

(REMEMBER THE RAILS ARE THE MAJOR FACTOR IN THE PLAY OF THE TABLE)

:)

Because this install looked just like the first time I had my table triple shimmed by the two best "mechanics" from Champion Billiards in Va.

It only took them 4 hours to to the job also. I have a feeling maybe those 'mechanics' moved from NoVA to Chicago.

LOL

Glen, on the other, in October of last year took 4 days, and the table is perfect, even when he had to stand in a ditch to work.

Thanks guys, honestly thought this guy was supposed to be one of the better Chicagoland gold crown mech's, and was prepared to pay much more...

Do you grant fortunes after you read minds :D 830 start, got MSG at 1215 saying they were leaving... I thought they'd be here all day.

Soooo?

Thanks, i was initially really disgusted with it, but was trying to not over-vent my thoughts :D I sent him the pics, he is sending them back out. At this point ive lost a lot of faith in them, given theyre professionals and would leave a finished product like this.

So how did this turn out for you? Was the recover done professionally the second time around?

As a second generation mechanic, Jerimy has a shop with Jigs and tools set up. I don't know what his expertise level is compared to others here so I'm not going to speak for him, but I'm sure there are more than a handful of guys in this country that can set up a table correctly and a crap load that can't. I'm more than satisfied with his work.

Thanks to all for your advice, I am back in operation and damn proud of the table again. Huge thanks to Jerimy for coming out and fixing the other guys mess, all in the midst of the holiday weekend too.

He also corrected some significant sloppy leveling/plaster work by the table mover many years back. Stand up guy and quality work. Really wish I had found him years ago, but better later than never. To anyone else in the chicagoland area, don't hesitate to call Jerimy Chambers (708)574-9888

Why do they say Chicagoland?

When did this start and why?

Just curious since it sounds funny to me.

You don't hear Houstonland or Pittsburghland

I think the same guys from champions did my first build. Not invited back.

I am really thinking about calling him for my new table. I picked up an Olhausen over my xmas break from work. Just gotta get the room all cleaned up first.

You don't know what he charges to cover with simonis do you?

He took pity on me, given my situation. But in our convos it seemed like he woulda been in the range of the "other guys", which kills me that i didn't find him sooner. I would by all means give him a call or text for a quote, tell him you saw this post about Tom's GC3 and i'm sure he will take care of you.

Would be nice to see some pics of the repaired repairs

I plan to get some good shots of it complete this weekend when I finish the new lighting down there.

The prev guys cut the cloth (tabs?) on the side pockets, so stretching it perfect there was not possible, and we also resused the K55, but given everything it still turned out great.
