Do I really NEED a $10k table?

i've heard they're not very good. used GC would a smarter buy. for brand new table, rasson accurra (not sure about the name) is probably better at that price point. it seems to hold up in commercial rooms and is used at pro tournaments in vietnam, philippines etc
I bought a Black Wolf table new in 2020. It was not the "Pro" version. It was definitely not close to a gold crown. Ball return was PVC crap, cushions were not consistent, and it never stayed level. Would not recommend, buy a used gold crown.

Broken record here: Find a used Olhausen for $500-$1000. Add 3/16' 60 durometer pocket facings and Simonis cloth. Have fun for the rest of your life.
I did basically the same thing.

I've never heard of that table maker before. What caused it to be that expensive when it was new? Solid rare hardwood?
Porter and Sons is still in business. Third gen. family company. They only make tables when ordered. Every piece is custom. Table sides are 2" thick Honduran mahogany. Rails are burled mahogony. This model is called the "Wren" and is one of their bread and butter styles. It has some obvious character marks from all the years of play but the mechanic who set it up actually installed it all those years ago! I'm not really in to that aspect of it in terms of history or name, I just have a beautiful 9ft table that is solid as a rock and plays like a champ at a price less than a foriegn made rec stor table! Couldn't be happier.

We've had our Diamond table for 5 or 6 yrs now and wife and I were just talking about it the other day about how much enjoyment we have gotten with our table. We both shoot, I'm on two leagues, one with the wife, and one without. We probably average about a half hr ea of practice on the table a day. We also have friends over to shoot and my wifes best friend is one of them.
Anyway what we were talking about the other day was how our table was one of the best investments we have ever made, and how that table will last us the rest of our lives. It really is cheap when you figure how long it should last you, and if you ever decide to sell it, because of inflation you can probably get most of your investment back. We were very fortunate in that when we got our table, about 2 or 3 months later Diamond had a huge price increase in their professional table line.

That is a beautiful Diamond... everything about it.
The pleasure we get from a home table is priceless. The fun never ends.

We have moved and the distance made transport of my 24 year old cheap furniture table more than it was worth so I am in the market for an 8ft table for my new space. Of course I would LOVE to get a top tier brand, but it's double or more the cost of the lower end "Billiard Store" tables. I am not and will never be a pro level player. Fargo just over 400. Love the game and league play, but want a good value for a home table that mostly only I ever touch.

Thoughts? Thanks for the honest recommendations.

Yes (duh), if it's a good quality 9' table.

beautiful table and set up

I only had room for a 7'. Found a slightly used Diamond, hired the best mechanic in my area (Jack Zimmerman), and I have never regretted the investment. Play on it 4-5 days a week.

Have we forgot that Some City Recreation / Senior Center have a few pool tables at their center! Might cost a year membership, (last time I remember was $60.00 per year membership).

You don’t need it but I do. You can send the 10k via cashiers check or PayPal. You can also buy the table directly from Diamond and have it delivered to my house.

I might check facebook marketplace. Where I am, a guy was selling a 9-foot Gandy for $400. If I had room for it, I would 've bought it to fix up as a "beater" / straight pool table.
