Do people cut chalk?

he screams like his you know what is cought in his zipper

Funny to some, not for me. I got my "you know what" caught in my zipper when I was a young lad :embarrassed2:. Not only painful, but it proved to be the most embarrassing moment of my life, laying on a hospital table with about six nurses all staring down at me (probably doing the best they could trying to stifle their giggling). I wish my parents would've known then that all you had to do was cut the zipper at the bottom with a pair of dikes and just let the darn thing fall apart (the zipper, not my "you know what" :D).

True story.

I use the swiping method for chalking my cues. So I keep my own piece in my hand at all times.

However, the other players that come to my house are hard-core drillers. So after they have had their way with my hand-me down pieces of chalk, I just take them to the bars and leave a few on each table. They are always losing chalk, so why not recycle?

A piece of chalk that I would consider "end of life cycle" (without cutting) is the best piece in the house when I drop it off at the bar.

I learned this through secure channels in a secret XXXXXXXX Lab ... an individual personally obtained this information from XXXXX XXXXX

blue diamond chalk when properly condensed onto nanometer thin plutonium mobius strips ... create single use chalking perfection.... you need an entire strip for any chalking purpose... but it IS guaranteed to be perfect... Insured by Lloyds of London

and magically , the piece of modified chalk has only one side , making us question everything we know about our "three dimensional" world !

I've only had to level mine a few times when I've noticed someone else drilling a hole in the middle of mine. I can usually level them back out during normal play but on occasion I will hit them with my angle grinder using a sanding disc. Only takes a few seconds but yes, they generate a lot of dust.

Wow! heres what I do I take a piece of chalk ,use it until its worn out, now heres the part everyone is having problems with, throw it in the trash and get a different piece. No mess no fuss.

I chalk the whole tip, before every shot. And as far as the drilling most players perform, that's how you end up chalking only the edges of the tip as the hole becomes too deep, and also leaves a nasty blue ring on your ferrule.

It's not a matter of what the chalk costs at all.

Geeze, that's just too easy...and NOT the point of this thread.

Henry...You were taught this in pool school too!

Last year I picked up Mike Sigel's IPT 8-ball video, and one of the things I learned was chalking in a swiping motion with one hand instead of drilling into the chalk. The chalk seems to last longer, and has a bigger surface area for chalking. I recalled Kevin Trudeau making a pitch about things that you're not supposed to know. Maybe this was one of them, how to chalk properly and elegantly.:D

I'll take a photo of my pre-flag Master chalk after I'm done drilling a hole in it lol. Post it here and give everyone a heart attack.

now for the only serious response I will ever give on the subject of chalk

I took this picture specifically for this thread.. it shows the complete life cycle of my chalk.. from brand new to toss it...

I get my moneys worth out of a chalk cube.. and I do it by simply chalking correctly..

I use the whole damn thing and don't need a saw or nothing..

You realize, of course, you're going to straight to Hell now. :D

I only smooth down the points on mine if I end up with any. But it's a once per year-ish thing. But that was the original point right, how, when, why would we cut it?

Referring to the OP: I wouldn't cut the cube in half, just smooth the top down with an angle grinder and sanding disc as I mentioned before. But keep clear; whatever is near will be blue. And wear a mask! If you were determined to split the chalk though I'd use a cutting disc on the angle grinder. This time I'd be more inclined to wear a respirator though as you'd be releasing a lot of lead into the air.

In the spirit or demonstration, I also took a picture(blurry) this afternoon of the oiece of chalk I am currently using. I figger it's got a couple more sessions to go before it crumbles in my hand, which is my signal to start a new piece.
