I evaluate shot options in percentages, and suspect many other do too ... but "Nomenclature" ???

I usually look at the shot, is it a decent chance? If no, is there a good safe? Then decide what to do.

After a while I think you just kind of look at carom angles and what you can do with the cue ball. Pick the easiest out. Try your best to perform it flawlessly with good fundamentals.

I'm by no means a great player but I am when I keep my fundamentals in check and take my time in the execution phase.
 
I usually look at a shot, tell myself to make it and/or get position or I'm f$#ked, repeat. Sometimes I verbalize it.
 
I was trying to see how people judge stats and the percentage of the use of pool equipment like jump cues, I watch a lot of world wide pool tours and see that I think jump cues are worth about 6 or 7 percent of positive pool, for games. Sales for the jump cues industry is many dollars...
Also like the percentage of the table Cushing being close to the same for working the tables... Not percentages for gambling... Guy Thanks

I kinda figured that was the point but was a little unsure.

Jump cues are not the holy grail of pool. Yes, they can get you out of trouble, and you can make balls. But I see many misses in pro events where they get a hit, but end up selling out by not being able to control the cue ball, and leaving an easy shot for the opponent. Sometimes times it's like giving the opponent ball in hand.

Yes this is the way I see it as ball placement, Thats why I see about 6% positive... Guy
