I know there are some on here that follow the WPBA tournaments and some that play in the same rooms as some of the ladies. Do the the top ten beat the 9-ball ghost over 50% of the time? I have heard that Kelly Fisher does, and I'm sure a few more of them can. Johnnyt

I need to bust some balls here. You have Joe Pesci from Casino as your Avatar and you're asking a question about women's pool. Are you sure you're a friend of "ours"? LOL.

I bet there are a bunch that can. Jasmin, Allison, Fisher (both), Kim, Pan etc.
I would say the top 10 in the WPBA. I don't consider myself an excellent player, but I've beaten a couple of women pros in tournaments. None in the top 20 though.

I'm Irish. Ican only be someones friend from the that club. Although I have done a lot of work for them from 1955 to 1979. I worked on their boats, sank some of their boats for insurance, made deliveries for them, and a lot of other stuff that I won't put on here. Johnnyt

Define beating the 9 ball ghost, to me that means race to ten, break, take ball in hand, try to run out, do it one point for you, miss one point for the ghost. So are you asking are they going to win that race 5 out of 10 times or just 5 out of 10 times they will break, take ball in hand and run out.

Just wondering myself isnt pro speed beating the 9 ball ghost 10 ahead..

I would think the top ten listed there could all beat the ghost 50% of the time. Jasmine would beat it and probably a few more in the top 20. Johnnyt

There are a few in that top 20 that wouldn't. I'm Irish and Italian Johnnyt. Weird combo...don't know if I should play with myself or go out and get drunk. lol

Oh yea, what table, what pocket size. I would hope most of the ladys in that top 20 list could win 5 out of 10 racks depending on how the balls are breaking. Is the 3 balls past the head string part of the test or can they just soft break um. Jasmin is going to distroy that game.

It was a number of years back, but I have seen Ewa Mataya put down a 7 pack in a male dominated tournament. The best part was- she put it down on Jimmy Mataya after he was ahead and started mouthing off to her. She won. One of the few times Jimmy didn't have anything to say afterwards.

Wish I was there for that lol. Johnnyt

Jmho

a "B" player can win races to 10 in ghost 9 on a 9'

an "A" male player should do it more than 50% of the time

I would think a pro female player in the top 20 should be able to at least match the 50% of the time..... if they can't, why aren't they practicing??

Ten ahead is Way different than a race to 10 as I'm sure you know.

Who you gonna call????

Playing the ghost can be any number you want, to 5,7,9,10, or even 15.\

Most only play a race to 7. Keep in mind, playing the ghost in the ole days, there was no ball-in-hand after the break like there is today. It really meant something in the old days to beat the ghost.

I would say 60% (6 players) would beat the ghost in a race to 7, the other 40% (4 players) would not.

With no ball-in-hand after break, 1 might do it, but I doubt it.

I agree. No BIH is a tough fade. Johnnyt

looks like i'm back to being a c player by your scale

Didn't know you got BIH after the break playing the ghost. That changes things significantly.

I would say the girls can beat the ghost probably closer to 75% of the time....especially with those rules.

I would think on a regular Diamond PRO, the top 20 on the WPBA, should be able to beat the 9ball ghost 50% of the time.

especially with getting BIH after the break the only think you'd have to worry about it two balls getting tied up or getting out of position.

On a regular table with buckets a decent B or higher player should beat the ghost 50% of the time.

eventhough she's not on the list, but is a top player, Kamilla khodjaeve. European champion girls i thought i'd give some stats of her as i know exactly what her speed is. I practice with her alot, and with BIH she has a clearence % of 70%. In topshape she clears 80-85% of the tables. More then enough to beat the 9ball ghost.

I don't know how she compares to the woman in the list, but if she can , then these top20 also shouldn't have any problem with BIH.

I want to bet against the B players who supposedly can beat the ghost more than 50% of the time. In practice on a good day maybe, but I think most "B" players would have a real tough time if serious money was on it.

Live streamed, maybe 20%.

I guess a few people here think some lady pros play worse than B level lol.

I will try to do a little experiment this week. I'll play the 9b ghost on a GCIII with buckets, then on a GCIII that is double shimmed. I'd guess the tighter pockets will cost me a game to the ghost every 3rd or 4th rack, but I'd like to know... Good thread johnnyt. A green pellet for ya.
